104 years ago the worst race riot to ever happen in America began. Scratch that not a riot but a massacre. Black WallStreet was the most prosperous black town in America in 1921. A young black man, Dick Rowland, was accused of sexually assaulting a young white woman. A white mob formed and they looted, killed, and burned the city to the ground. The official death toll was 300, but they’re beginning to find unmarked graves and that death toll could rise into the thousands. Over 6,000 people became homeless. This is something that isn’t taught in the history books but it needs to be told.
