Give Assam 5 years, and we'll make it flood-free...!!
That promise was made in 2021. Today, in 2026, Assam is still drowning.
More than **4.45 lakh people** have been affected by this year's floods, with **68 lives lost**. Districts like Charaideo and Sivasagar remain among the worst hit. Even more alarming, the Chief Minister has admitted that **20–25% of the affected areas are still beyond administrative reach**, leaving nearly **80,000 people** stranded without timely food, water, or rescue.
Drones meant to deliver relief have fallen short. Year after year, floods are dismissed as a "natural and geographical challenge," but for the people living through this disaster, repeated suffering raises difficult questions about preparedness, long-term planning, and accountability.
In the 2026 election campaign, the same promise was extended for another five years. But the people of Assam don't need more deadlines—they need lasting flood management, effective relief, and real accountability.
