Julius Evola: An Adventurous Life by Andrea Scarabelli — the first definitive biography of the legendary Italian Traditionalist — is a true tome.

Weighing in at just under 800 pages, the book includes 83 pages of archival photographs and documents, nearly 2,000 notes, and an extensive index.

The volume is opened by the author’s original prefaces to the Italian editions, the French philosopher Alain de Benoist’s foreword to the French edition, and an original foreword to the English edition by Jafe Arnold.

The English edition, the product of two years of dedicated work, comes to you in the wonderful translation of Sergio Knipe, and the editing has engaged a whole team of scholars. Thanks to line-by-line collaboration with the author, the English edition has not only been brought up to date with the second Italian and French editions, but is sure to stand out as the foremost edition worldwide.

Andrea Scarabelli’s Julius Evola: An Adventurous Life, co-published by PRAV Publishing and Arktos, is *coming soon* in dust-jacketed hardback, paperback, and ebook.

*While previously aiming for April 30, further work with the author on enhancing the English edition and printing a proper dust jacket hardcover have us on course to release in early May.*

COMING SOON:

MAMLEEV'S AMERICA

[link in the comments below]

Yuri Mamleev (1931-2015) is known today in his native Russia and in some parts of Europe as the founder of an original literary genre known as Metaphysical Realism.

While reputed for his uniquely uncanny and disturbing literary investigations of death, metaphysical matters like the Self, and what he called “the Abyss,” little attention to date has been paid to one of Mamleev’s formative spiritual trials: his exile in the United States and the body of writings he produced on the mysterious aura of America.

Mamleev’s America marks the first English-language publication of his American writings while also framing an alternate version of the author – the “Other Mamleev” – who both created and was created by New York City in the 1970s, as well as its latent double, the sleepy college hamlet of Ithaca, New York.

This unprecedented volume brings together Mamleev’s American Stories (dating to the early 1980s), the roman à clef entitled Wanderings (published posthumously in 2022), and an extensive introduction to Mamleev’s relationship with America, written by Charlie Smith.

In these blackly disquieting visions, Mamleev probes the dead-end of Modernity, exposing the underbelly of America’s sanitized Mammonite pseudo-religion and its cult of “winners.” In a sea of psychically uninhabited bodies, televised faces, dislocated mutilations, and self-guided knives in search of lives, Mamleev conjures characters stripped not only of identity, but of Being as such.

In Mamleev’s scrying mirror, the surface depravity and spiritual desolation of American life become strangely inverted: what upon first glance seems like a scene from hell is instead revealed to be a singular moment of encounter with the radical Other, a portal opening up to the breath of the Abyss. Mamleev’s America transports the reader into the world lurking behind the façades of our cities, which we otherwise only glimpse through a glass, darkly.

Yuri Mamleev (1931-2015) was the principal founder of the central esoteric society of the late Soviet Union: the Yuzhinsky Circle. Together with Evgeny Golovin and Geidar Dzhemal — later joined by Alexander Dugin — Mamleev hosted a dissident salon in the center of Moscow where the “schizoid underground” would convene to indulge in spirits and explore the metaphysical realm. In 1968, he released his most significant literary work via underground self-publishing, the novel Shatuny. In 1974, Mamleev was exiled from the Soviet Union and landed in New York City, from where he secured a lecturing position at Cornell University. In 1983, he emigrated yet again, this time to France. Mamleev returned to Russia in 1993, becoming a household name and a major figure in the pantheon of Russian literature.
