Let me introduce ♻️🌍

This two-piece denim set was discovered in a Laredo warehouse just a few days ago — buried among piles of discarded clothing. The moment I saw it, I knew it was special. That night, I looked up the brand behind it. (This shoot was at the same warehouse pile that I found the set, just to give context).

Cacao Clothing is based in Accra, Ghana, a city at the center of one of the world’s growing textile waste crises. Every week, millions of secondhand garments from the Global North arrive in Ghana, much of it unsellable. Many pieces ultimately end up in landfills, informal dump sites, or washed onto beaches and waterways like Jamestown Beach, where textile and plastic pollution have become impossible to ignore.

But in the middle of that crisis, creativity is thriving. ✨

The talented team at Cacao sources materials from Makola and Kantamanto markets, transforming discarded textiles into bold, reimagined garments with new life and purpose. Their work not only reduces textile waste, but challenges the fast-fashion cycle by proving sustainability and artistry can coexist beautifully.

Finding this piece felt like finding a story — one stitched together across continents through fashion, waste, resilience, and creativity.

This is why I do what I do, and why I created . Honestly, this find is probably the most notable to date. Why? Because of the IRONY of finding a piece meant to have a new lease on life, only to have made its way to Laredo, TX (another epicenter of the world’s textile waste crisis) where it almost became another statistic in the city landfill.

This set will be on the runway during our fashion fundraiser on July 29th at Casa Ortiz. Please follow for updates.

I had attended the Women Entrepreneurs Who Rock series “Women in Law” event at earlier today and the theme was “Bridgerton.” I’m so glad that I had a Regency-style vintage dress on hand (and this dress was also rescued from the warehouse trash piles). The faux pearl earrings are vintage/thrifted. The vintage bag was saved from the bins, and the necklace and Spanish peineta were borrowed from a friend.

Huge thanks to the folks at for hosting such a great event. catered the delicious lunch, Deli Desserts by Erika for the dessert. The panelists for the event were: , Martha Cigarroa, Judge Martinez, and Ana Gutierrez; while the moderator was Carlos Flores. Vendors included: .delatierra .

From landfill-bound to main character energy. ♻️🔥

Just yesterday, this 1960s vintage dress was sitting in a warehouse “trash” pile—now it’s getting the second life it deserved all along.

Rescued, revived, and exactly where it belongs.
This is circular fashion. ✨

✨ Appreciation Post to Laredo’s hidden MCM Architectural Treasures ✨

This Mid-Century Modern masterpiece is a stunning example of New Formalism in Laredo. The old Cigarroa Medical building was built in the 60s by the firm- Haynes & Kirby. Those iconic pointed arches aren’t just structural; they represent an era when architecture aimed for ‘monumental dignity.’

This gem is proof that even medical buildings can be works of art. It may be silent for now, but its architectural voice is still the loudest on the block.

I just discovered a true Tucson hidden gem! ✨

I’ve had ‘s coffee shop on my radar for a while, but now that I literally work just down the street, lunch was the perfect excuse to finally stop in.

This coffee shop has it all—delicious coffee and tea drinks (the White Chocolate Matcha is heaven), tasty savory bites, and desserts that are too good to resist. The staff is super friendly, and the space is clean, cozy, and perfect for getting work done. ☕💻

This moment at work today brought me so much joy. I’ve never heard an antique Victrola play before (except on TV). Isn’t it beautiful!?

There’s something about getting dressed in a 1930s outfit that immediately changes the way you move through the world. The fabrics fall differently, posture shifts, and even standing still feels intentional. This look was about honoring the decade’s quiet elegance—the lace detailing, soft drape of the skirt, and the gentle romance that emerged as women’s fashion moved away from the sharp lines of the 1920s and into something more fluid and expressive.

What makes this dress especially meaningful is where it came from. This cream lace 1930s dress was pulled from a “trash” pile in Laredo in January of 2025—discarded, overlooked, and nearly lost. I included the video of finding it at the end of this slideshow because vintage isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about rescue, preservation, and honoring the stories stitched into these garments. Clothes like this weren’t meant to be disposable, and I feel incredibly lucky to give it another moment to be seen.

This shoot took place in December of 2025, and what began as a simple outfit moment turned into something completely unplanned. My friend pulled up in his restored 1930 Model A Ford Deluxe Roadster, and suddenly the decade felt fully alive. Andrew has such a deep appreciation for vintage craftsmanship—whether in clothing, cars, or community—and seeing his roadster beside authentic 1930s fashion felt grounding and cohesive, like they were speaking the same visual language.

We took these photos outside , one of my favorite local coffee spaces in Laredo. It felt fitting that a rescued dress, a lovingly cared-for roadster, and a community-centered coffee shop all came together in one unplanned moment—exactly the kind vintage loves best. ☕️✨

I’m holding onto this tote bag today—a souvenir from a 90s trip to Minneapolis with my dad. He’s no longer with us, but carrying this feels like keeping his spirit close while my heart is with Minnesota. 🕊️✊

I don’t have the option to step away from work today, and I know many small businesses are in the same boat. If you aren’t able to strike but still want to stand in solidarity, let’s be intentional. If you have to spend today, skip the big corporations and put that money back into your local shops and neighborhood restaurants. ☕️🥘

Supporting our neighbors is its own form of standing together.

I’ve decided to start a new hobby—one that’s been quietly growing in me for a while. Working at and seeing all the wonderful old ephemera my friend Jessica collects for her crafting brand has been such an inspiration.

Then a “Paper Jam” workshop with sealed it. Being surrounded by creatives in the scrapbooking and junk journaling world felt like home.

I’ve started a few pages and even discovered a vintage wooden album at an estate sale. Now the real fun begins: filling it with photos, little treasures, and pieces of the past.
