As promised yesterday, here is my 1 ride, 140 mile review of the PhyiFlbey Motorcycle Seat Cushion. (Funny name and I'll put a link in the comments)
It goes on the seat easily. The belt and connectors should fit most bikes. It wraps all the way around the seat. I suppose if you don't have space below the seat, the belt could get caught on something and damage it. Be advised.
There is some gel in the seat, but most of it is empty space via the cells. You can see right through it, as seen in one of the pictures below.
So how does it feel? Initially, it is very comfortable. It also does a great job of shock adsorption. We rode a couple of bumpy roads and I definitely did not feel the shocks coming up through my spine like I usually do. The cells allow a certain amount of airflow so my butt did not get "sultry" or sweaty even. I think it would be good at preventing "swamp butt."
How about longer rides? We made several stops so I wasn't on it all day but I did start noticing some soreness on my ischia, aka "sitbones" after about 4 or 5 hours. It stopped after a brief rest though.
How does it compare to an Air Hawk? I've had 2 Air Hawks and I think they might be a tad more comfortable but they don't breathe as well. It can also take a bit of trial and error to get the right amount of air in them. They cost about $110 vs $36 for this one. It's been quite a while since I used a sheepskin but I was thinking today that I might try putting my sheepskin on top of this cushion and see how the combo works.
NOTE: if your scooter is almost too tall for you, this cushion will raise you up another inch or so. In my case, it gave me a little more legroom.

I just got a new seat cushion for the Burgman. I'm riding it about 3500 miles next month and want to be as comfortable as possible. (We're riding out to Eureka Springs, AR for Scooting the Ozarks.)
At any rate, before putting it on the bike, I got out the insert and got a giggle. First, I'm not sure if it will even work for me. My buttocks are not "transparent." Will that affect cushion performance? And then, what if I want my butt to be "sultry." Some of us were just just born with sultry posteriors. Am I right?

Butt anyway, (see what I did there?) it attached to the seat with no difficulty at all and if it will fit on a Burgman's badonkadonk, it will fit anything.

As most know, I'm in Arizona and this thing is black. How much hotter is it than my regular seat. I took pictures but after letting it sit outside for 30 minutes or so, the cushion is only 1.1 degrees hotter than the uncovered part. Not bad. Will it cool off faster than the regular seat because of the mesh? (For the record, it was a balmy, maybe even "sultry", 99 degrees and sunny when I took the temp photos.)

Throw-back Thursday - August 30, 2008

This is a photo of the first "group" ride I ever led. There were three of us. That Genuine Buddy 150 was my first scooter and I put 37k miles on it. A couple of years after this photo, I ended up buying that black Stella. Three months later, our Tucson scooter club, the Sky Island Riders would be born.

15 Years of Florida Fun

The latest scooter club being showcased in The Scooter 'Zine is the Pinellas SC located in Pinellas County, Florida (Tampa Bay are). Started in 2011, this club now has over 1700 members riding every conceivable kind of scooter. They feature weekly meetup and rides all over the region.

Back in April, I made the recommendation below. I also said that there would be an interview with Michale Peckerar in a future issue of The Scooter 'Zine. Well, the wait is almost over. That interview with Michael will be featured in the September/October issue!
Note: My recommendation stands. If you haven't purchased and read "The Primavera Syndicate" please get it . . .NOW! It's a fun read AND when you purchase it, you are supporting the scooter community. If we want to see more scooters in print and other media, we need to support those who are already out there.

Are you looking for another good scooter YouTube channel? I've mentioned a few her in the past and today, I'm recommending David Weber's channel, specifically his "2026 Alaska Vespa Adventure" series, which he is still uploading. The series chronicles the epic adventure he and his dad did on a pair of Vespa's this year, from Tucson to Alaska and back.

David has some really good video and editing skills. He uses multiple camera angles to keep it visually interesting. He features Rever videos to show us their daily routes. He also gives you brief histories of some of the interesting places they visit. I don't know how many videos will be in the series but I've enjoyed the first 5 so far.

Let's support a fellow scooter rider. Subscribe to the channel. "Like" the videos and leave comments. Tell David that The Scooter 'Zine sent you. I think you will enjoy the series.
