🌝 We hope everyone survived the Full Harvest Moon that fell on Friday the 13th. The spooky and magical beginning to the weekend was a great precursor to our new episode: The Curse of the Werewolf 🐺

As far as monsters go, the werewolf is extremely well known in western culture. Most of us know the story well. That is you THOUGHT you did. The story that Hollywood tells isn’t the full story or even the original story of the lycanthrope. Listen to Episode 20: The Curse of the Werewolf to hear the FULL story of our favorite furry killing machine 🖤

And of course when you’re done, check out www.twocreepybs.com for more. Keep it creepy!

Turns out that nightmare wasn’t always just an expression for a bad dream. The original meaning represented the experience of suffocation during a sleep paralysis episode. Pretty neat!

Our newest 💀Spooky Quote Sunday✨ features Emily Dickinson’s haunting “One need not be a chamber to be haunted”. This poem makes it clear, especially in the opening line, that the real ghost that should be feared dwell within our minds. We should be afraid of our own thoughts and fears, rather than spirits of an otherworldly realm. Writing, even before Freud, of the idea of an ‘Ourself behind ourself, concealed’. An eerie notion that we have multiple selves and parts of our mind that we hardly understand (Freud theorized this as the “unconscious”, where our true desires and fears lie and are kept largely hidden from us. Finding yourself in a ‘lonesome Place’ is more terrifying than seeing a ghostly horseman or an assassin. We can protect ourselves from a threat lurking, how can we protect ourselves from the unknown?
Our minds can surely be our worst enemy at times. Learn about the scary parasomnia, sleep paralysis in our latest episode, The Night Hag. Who else better to craft your perfect nightmare than our own mind? Pleasant dreams! 😅
