Even to My Old Age, You Will Carry Me:

I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4 CSB)

Life has a way of reminding us how fragile we are. Our bodies grow weary, our energy fades, and the seasons of life change. What once came easily may now take more time and strength than we have to give. Yet in the middle of these reminders of our weakness, God speaks a timeless promise: “Even to your old age… I will carry you.”

This verse paints a beautiful picture of God’s unchanging faithfulness. He does not walk away when life slows down, when our hair turns gray, or when our hands are no longer as steady as they once were. The God who created us at the very beginning is the same God who promises to carry us to the very end.

Think about that word—carry. To carry someone is to take their full weight, to lift them when they cannot move forward on their own. That’s exactly what God promises to do. When we are weak, He becomes our strength. When we feel overlooked or forgotten, He whispers, “I am still here. I have always been here. I will never leave you.”

This passage reminds us of four beautiful truths about God:

1. He made us—Our lives are not an accident. God personally formed us and knows us better than we know ourselves.
2. He bears us—He takes responsibility for His children, watching over us with care and compassion.
3. He sustains us—His strength is what keeps us going, day after day, moment after moment.
4. He delivers us—No matter the trial, He is our ultimate Rescuer and Redeemer.

As we reflect on these promises, may we rest in the assurance that our worth and security are not tied to our age, our abilities, or our circumstances. They are anchored in the eternal, unchanging faithfulness of God.

So whether you are young and strong or gray-haired and leaning on the arms of others, the same God holds you fast. He is the One who carried you through yesterday, is sustaining you today, and will continue to carry you every day until He brings you safely home.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are faithful from the beginning to the end of my life. When I feel weak, remind me that You are my strength. When I feel forgotten, remind me that You never let me go. I trust You to carry me, sustain me, and deliver me—always. Amen.

The Perfect Word of God: A Reflection on Psalm 19:7–10

“The instruction of the Lord is perfect, renewing one’s life;
the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. The precepts of the Lord are right, making the heart glad;
the command of the Lord is radiant, making the eyes light up.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are reliable and altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold—than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.”
(Psalm 19:7–10, CSB)

(1) God’s Word Brings Life

David describes God’s Word as 'perfect'—not lacking anything. When we come to Scripture with open hearts, it doesn’t just inform us; it transforms us. God’s Word renews life, giving fresh strength to weary souls.

(2) Wisdom for the Inexperienced

The testimony of the Lord is 'trustworthy'. We can stake our lives on it. Even those who feel inexperienced or unqualified can grow wise when they listen to God’s truth. Unlike worldly wisdom that changes with trends, God’s wisdom is timeless and sure.

(3) Joy and Light

God’s commands are not burdensome—they bring 'gladness'. They don’t weigh us down; they lift our hearts. His Word is described as 'radiant', lighting up our eyes. Scripture opens our vision to see life clearly, revealing God’s path when everything else seems dim.

(4) Enduring Purity and Righteousness

The fear of the Lord—our reverence, awe, and trust in Him—is 'pure' and will never fade away. God’s ordinances are 'altogether righteous', never tainted or unjust. In a world where justice often feels compromised, God’s Word stands as a perfect standard.

(5) More Precious Than Gold, Sweeter Than Honey

David concludes by comparing God’s Word to wealth and pleasure—the things people naturally crave. Yet he says Scripture is 'better than gold' and 'sweeter than honey'. The riches of this world cannot compare to the treasure of knowing God through His Word, and no earthly sweetness satisfies like the sweetness of His truth.

Living It Out:

Psalm 19:7–10 reminds us not just to read the Bible, but to savor it. Let it renew our spirit when we’re tired, guide our steps when we’re unsure, and fill our hearts with joy. We are to treasure it more than your possessions. Taste it as your sweetest delight.

May we approach God’s Word daily with open hands and expectant hearts.

May the Word of the Lord, conform, confront, and comfort us.

I removed the “Word of Faith” tinted glasses. Soon enough, as my vision cleared, I began to see that the so-called respected men and women of “faith” were charlatans and tricksters.
