2021 gave us the Great Resignation. People had enough of their thankless, low-wage jobs and moved on. I've read stories of people submitting a two week notice and receiving a response to let them know they were fired effective immediately.

While there are many issues that need to be addressed at the corporate level, could something be done differently in 2022 to address these issues?

Everyone is capable of doing good in the world. Everyone has, at the very least, a candle inside them (ew, why are you swallowing candles?). We literally have the power to spark a change in someone just with positive words. Say something nice, anything at all, to someone you wouldn't normally say these things to.

It's my feeling that even the most toxic personality can be changed with kindness and positive words. Even if you have to do it every day until they are in their graves, KILL THEM WITH KINDNESS!

Be mindful with your words and actions. Be the good (and the change) you wish to see in others. We cannot control others words, thoughts, or actions, but can encourage others to healthier selves by presenting our best selves.

It's easy to take the path of anger and outrage when we read about or experience violence. While our initial reaction may be justified, it's essential to detach from the anger and take the path that isn't always easiest. Holding onto anger only distracts us from being architects of a world of peace.

A good person wouldn't let their child sit in a dirty diaper. Treat your inner child in the same way. Be good to you, and the world will be good to you back.

I haven't been feeling very influenced lately due to events in my personal life and the political spectrum, which has given me pause to step back and find what makes me happy.

Peace makes me happy. Love makes me happy. Serenity makes me happy. Hope makes me happy. Solidarity makes me happy. A diver petting a seal's belly makes me happy. Meditation makes me happy. Reflection makes me happy. Exercising my body and my brain makes me happy. Letting go of anger makes me happy.

Being angry at elitist politicians abusing their power to get revenge on the public or push through their personal agenda doesn't make me angry anymore. It makes me sad.

It inspires me to do more than speak out in anger. It inspires me to do more than post stories, opinions, or memes.

For now, Influenced's new format will be sharing stories of hope, love, overcoming struggle, and surviving. I feel that these stories can be enough to help those feeling hopeless to survive. I'm reminded of a quote from Fred Rogers, which I'll shorten to the climax of the parable: "Look for the Helpers".

I'll end this with my favorite quote in times of despair:

"This too shall pass"

Experience Peace,

T.C.

This I strongly support. Especially since there are more teenagers than ignorant ones.

The group ‘Vote 16 USA’ advocates for lowering the voting age, with teenagers in Washington, D.C., lobbying for the chance to vote in the next presidential election.

Let's work to make sure that this as***le not only loses his security clearance but also can never get one again. Let's get him fired.

So why is he working for a defense contractor with a security clearance? Michael Miselis took part in the violent Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. So far, it hasn't damaged his standing at Northrop Grumman.

With Justice Kennedy retiring, there is a very real fear that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, and abortion access made illegal here in the United States again.

We adamantly support a woman's right to choose. It is a woman's body and her choice. Period. That's why we are providing a comprehensive list of abortion services outside of the United States. Upon research, we have verified that between South America, Mexico, and Canada, only Canada has the safest and 100% legal options available (Ontario will provide an abortion for up to 24 weeks):

National Abortion Federation (NAF Canada): Non-residents will be able to receive abortion services for a fee. This fee varies, so you'll want to call ahead to find out the cost. This fee can run up to $500.

http://www.nafcanada.org/access-region.html

Opt - Options For Sexual Health: primarily covers the B.C. region in Canada. They provide a wide range of informational services. They have a toll-free line to ask any sexual health questions: 1-800-739-7367

https://www.optionsforsexualhealth.org/

Teen Health Source: provides a pretty comprehensive list of services, including a chat with a trained volunteer.

We feel that it is important to understand that should Roe v. Wade be overturned, it returns power to the individual states to decide if abortion will remain legal in those states. The more conservative the state, the higher the risk.

Between 2005 and 2017, 82 police officers across the United States have been charged with murder or manslaughter resulting from on-duty shootings, according to research by Philip Stinson, an associate professor of criminal justice at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. In the last 13 years, only one officer was convicted of intentional murder, according to Stinson.

Why are police scared of black lives? If not racism/bigotry, then what? Without defending the officer, he was sworn-in 30 hours prior. He had worked in other districts prior to the shooting of Antwon Rose, but why did he move around so much?

Why does it feel like the police motto has changed from "To Protect And Serve" to "To Protect White People By Serving Up More Dead Black Bodies"?

Priorities.

The Conservative Base and White House are freaking out over Sarah Huckabee Sanders being refused service at a restaurant.

Meanwhile, children are living in cages because of their skin pigment and country of origin. All because their families want to escape from a really bad situation and discover "The American Dream".

Only to be greeted by "The AmeriKKKan Nightmare". After the Japanese Internment camps, we swore we'd do better. And before that with the American Indian Boarding Schools, which were created with the primary objective of assimilating Native American children and youth into a Euro-American culture and punishing them for using their native languages and customs. Our way of "doing better" was to make 'Cowboys and Indians' films depicting native peoples as "Savages" because their languages and customs didn't conform to the Euro-centric lifestyle, and cowboys as the 'white saviors'.

When will we "do better"?

MY America is a country made up of different cultures and ethnicities. Where everyone celebrates something unique, and where everyone comes together in times of terror and crisis to show American resolve to do better... to BE better. MY America is a close-knit community. We don't always agree on the right way to do things, but we agree to not treat people like s**t because of their skin pigment. With few exceptions, nobody in MY America is what I would consider a "savage".

THIS Orwellian nightmare? This isn't MY America. I don't even recognize this place. "The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave"? "Free" only if you are white. The "brave" people make plenty of noise about the crisis we see unfolding.

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" - - - THIS is MY America. In MY America, no skin color is more exceptional than the other. We carry those who can't carry themselves. We feed those who can't feed themselves. We give shelter to those who need safety and comfort and peace. We make reparations to those we have harmed and work towards healing this community by bringing them to the table to help shape policies.

At this point, I'm supporting robot overlords. They have more compassion than our current 'leader'.

With CBD, marijuana-based medicine gets its first greenlight from the FDA

Once it passes FDA muster and receives approval, the DEA had stated they will absolutely remove CBD from Schedule 1. Before too long, cannabis itself will be removed from Schedule 1.

In a news release today, the FDA announced its approval of a marijuana-derived drug called Epidiolex for the treatment of seizures in a subset of patients suffering from severe epilepsy. Epidiolex …

FACT CHECK: Have Undocumented Immigrants Killed 63,000 American Citizens Since 11 September 2001?

Not only is there no evidence for his claim, it would require a seemingly superhuman murder spree by the nation’s roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants.

You know, the kind of murder spree found in GTA IV and Saints Row. But now we know where they got those numbers.

The figure would mean undocumented immigrants, who account for roughly 3 percent of the population, would have to commit about one quarter of the nation's homicides.

History will provide the proper decorum for accomplishments and controversy. But everything happening thus far is now automatically part of history.

Before I begin, I'd like to make sure everyone understands I am not a psychologist. The below opinions are not a formal diagnosis or intended to be. The purpose of all of this is to shine a little light on the issue(s) and arouse a bit of discussion.

I'm going to share two important words with you

Compassion: can be seen as something that you extend and give as an act to another person. It is the external manifestation of a multitude of emotions which can be argued to include passion.

Ideally, everyone should have compassion. It can be compassion for kids being imprisoned in internment camps. It can be our moral compass, and it drives and inspires us to be vulnerable to the suffering of others.

Passion: Passion can be seen as beginning with an internal feeling that manifests itself externally as an expression of emotion.

There is nothing wrong with a healthy sense of passion. Passion can be sweet and beautiful. It can be a purpose or a mistake.

It has been suggested in psychology circles that Donald Trump probably lives with undiagnosed Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). I believe this is partially correct, and it doesn't tell the complete story.

Antisocial personality disorder is "a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others, occurring since age 15 years"

Narcissistic personality disorder is "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning in early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.

Those are separate definitions of these personality disorders. It is possible to be clinically diagnosed with both simultaneously. Cold callousness and lack of empathy for others, plus grandiose self-admiration and disdain for others equal a sociopathic narcissist who believes that they deserve to exploit people and dispose of them when finished.

To see the evidence of this, reflect on everything we know about Trump and compare to the definition of a Narcissistic Sociopath provided below:

TRAITS OF A NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH
How do you spot a sociopathic narcissist? Watch for certain traits:

A driven quest for power. If a narcissistic sociopath cares about anything other than himself, it is destructive power and control over people.

Behaviors that seek love and admiration. To be sure, this isn't needy love. It's not even emotional love. It's superficial. A narcissistic sociopath sees love and admiration as power tools to manipulate and dominate (Do Sociopaths Even Have Feelings?).

No apologies, no guilt, no remorse under any circumstance. A sociopathic narcissist believes that she is a gift to the world who makes it richer and more colorful. Therefore, her calculated, even cruel actions are always justified.

Invincibility. The narcissistic variety of sociopath believes he is indomitable. Even punishment and prison can't stop him. They're merely part of the game.

Wholly self-serving. The needs and wants of others are insignificant and undeserving of consideration.

Act as the producer, director, and only actor of his own show. The narcissistic sociopath casts people in roles that increase his power and sense of importance and when bored, casts them aside.

I'm going to repeat that last part because I wish for that to reflect the way Trump arbitrarily submits completely unqualified people to serve in roles that should belong to educated, smart, talented, and qualified individuals. I also want to point out (not that I need to) the disastrous turnover at the White House under Trump:

"The narcissistic sociopath casts people in roles that increase his power and sense of importance and when bored, casts them aside".

I personally find it appalling to see and hear so many people defending Trump over the issues. Anyone who supports Trump and his treatment of children, handicapped individuals, women, and anyone with a dissenting view is fair game for his disregard for a normal thing such as compassion as a "weakness".

Have we really come so far, only to fall so far back? Have we really learned nothing?

Time is running out, and 2020 is almost here. The Democratic Party has surrendered and become nearly identical to the Republican Party. They better listen to the millennials instead of mocking them, or Trump will be a two-termer.
