OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM LASTOP TRUCKING LLC
In response to the defamatory and misleading post circulating regarding LasTop Trucking LLC, I feel it necessary to clarify the facts and bring attention to a much larger issue affecting our industry.
After providing dump truck services totaling $7,692.50 for Solis Trucking LLC (owned by Ubaldo Solis) on referenced job, payment was deliberately delayed. It was only after I contacted the general contractor who hired Solis through Ashlock Trucking (owned by Johnny Ashlock) and threatened legal action that partial payments was made—weeks after the work had been completed in March.
What’s not being said is that other Owner Operators have also experienced the same issues with both Johnny Ashlock and Solis Trucking LLC, where they were forced to chase down payments or accept being unpaid altogether out of fear of retaliation—like the public smear campaign I'm currently facing.
Let me be clear: LasTop Trucking LLC operates with integrity. We document our work, show up professionally, and expect to be paid per the agreed-upon terms. In this case, our agreement was net 14 days. Instead, I was told I wouldn’t be paid until the end of April or even May for services rendered in mid-March. That’s unacceptable.
I have text messages, emails, telephone recordings, and signed tickets to validate the work completed and refusal by Solis Trucking LLC to pay as agreed, to include several suggested dates we would be paid—all of which will now be presented in court. We are not operating on hearsay; we are standing on documentation and facts.
The only real recourse for Owner Operators in situations like this is to walk away without pay—or take legal action. That is not how this industry should work.
After escalating the matter, the prime contractor who hired Ashlock took appropriate steps to ensure that Solis Trucking LLC paid for the services we delivered. And for that, I am grateful.
But this issue goes beyond one job. It’s about systemic practices that hurt small business operators and weaken our industry as a whole. Too many subcontractors-turned-brokers are taking advantage of Owner Operators and damaging the integrity of our work.
I am now committed to advocating for change. Brokers and subcontractors who hire others should be held to standards that include financial accountability and timely payment. We cannot allow contractors to operate unchecked while hardworking operators go unpaid.
To all my fellow professionals in the dump truck industry: If we value this work and our livelihoods, we must stand together. Let’s raise the bar for our industry and no longer tolerate behavior that hurts Owner Operators and undermines our work.
