The Celebration of Life for our hero, Scooter Segraves, went well. A big "thank you" to all who came out to honor the former KAKC afternoon DJ and program director. Everyone mentioned what a one-of-a-kind talent and friend Segraves was, and how much he is missed! If you had attended, you would have learned that Scooter was a National Merit Scholar in high school who is enshrined as a Tulsa Radio Icon as well as being voted one of the Top 100 Top 40 DJs in the nation by his peers. Legendary Tulsa media figures Dick Schmitz and Robert W. Walker were speakers.

Tulsa's favorite radio DJ, Scooter B. Segraves has passed. He died at his home in the Ozarks after a short illness. How fortunate were we, his listeners, to have access to this tremendous talent! Here are the last photos I snapped of him last year at Wright's Barbrque in Springdale, AR. Dear friend, "Adios Motherrunios!"

After the last few weeks of craziness, it's always good to remember that music is the great equalizer. Throwing it back to 50 years ago. Those of us of a certain age remember what we were doing then. And I was listening to these songs on my hometown radio station. Lots of forgotten gems here. And three of the biggest hits of the 70s were on their way up the chart at #13, #20 and #21. Enjoy!

BK Cobb, you should be able to listen to it here. Part One is slightly finicky…I had to press”play” multiple times, but it finally started playing. Please let me know if you are able to get it to work for you. Steve

BK Cobb…it appears that my “share” only copied the link for Part 2 of the documentary. If you don’t see Part One, scroll down to the original post from October of last year, and play it from there. 😁
