🎶 Deadheads Alert! Mark Your Calendars! 🎶

Huge congratulations to The Deadgummits, who will be playing at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino in Vegas on March 20 and 21 during Shakedown Street—part of the Dead & Company shows at the Sphere! 🎸🌟

From one of their first gigs at Yale Avenue Christian Church (yes, Grateful Dead tunes in the sanctuary—blame the preacher) to the bright lights of Las Vegas, this band has come a long way!

Rex, Heather, Shug, Stuart, Bryan, Eric, Michael, Andrea, and Damon—you’ve made this Deadhead Rev mighty proud. Sin City won’t know what hit it when The Deadgummits start pickin’ and grinnin’! 🎶🔥

Vegas, get ready to Let It Grow! 🌻

God of wisdom, as we approach this day of decision, guide us with clarity and insight. May we, as a nation, seek not only what we think we need, but what will bring true justice and goodness for all. Remind us that 'the answer is blowin' in the wind'—let us listen to the gentle voice of your Spirit, carried on that wind, whispering truth and understanding. May we find answers in the depths of our hearts, with open ears and open minds.

Lord of Peace, calm the storms that rise within us and between us. Help us remember that 'once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.' Guide us to find that light of peace within ourselves and extend it to our neighbors. May we choose words and actions that bring reconciliation, even in our differences. Let your peace wash over us and carry us through this time, knitting us together in a spirit of calm and respect.

God of Unity, bring us together as one people, not divided by our choices but united in our shared hopes. May we be encouraged to 'come together, right now,' reaching across lines and holding fast to our common humanity. May we remember that we are all your children, bound by your love. Make us instruments of unity, and help us to move forward as neighbors and friends, working hand in hand for the good of all.

Source of Hope, give us the courage to look forward with optimism. May we see a world filled with possibility, where justice, mercy, and kindness flow freely. Inspire us to 'imagine all the people, living life in peace.' Grant us boldness to dream and act with compassion, building a future that honors you. Help us hold fast to the hope that no matter the outcome, you are with us, leading us into brighter days.

This morning, as the strains of "Terrapin Station" filled the air, I was reminded that a setback is not the end of a dream, but a step in the journey. Though my sabbatical proposal to explore the intersection of my faith and the Grateful Dead in Santa Cruz was not funded, the call in my heart has not been silenced. In fact, it sings louder.

The lyrics, "Inspiration, move me brightly," resonated deeply, affirming that my passion and my purpose are not dictated by external approvals but by a divine spark within. This project is more than a proposal; it's a calling, and I am committed to making it happen.

Thanks be to God for the music that lifts us, the dreams that drive us, and the resilience to pursue what makes our hearts sing, against all odds.
