Serious Concerns Regarding BIOS Program Operations** Tulsa/Sapulpa
I am compelled to bring to your immediate attention the alarming and unacceptable conditions within the BIOS program, particularly concerning the treatment of vulnerable children and adults. My experience as a foster parent—specifically regarding my daughter’s transition to BIOS for the promise of stability—has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Since her placement at the beginning of 2023, it has become painfully clear that BIOS is failing to provide the care and support that these individuals desperately need. The environment is rife with misconduct, including physical and emotional abuse by staff who are woefully unqualified to handle the complex needs of the children in their care. Reports of financial exploitation and the suppression of abuse are not merely alarming; they are indicative of a systemic failure within this organization.
My daughter has described her experience in BIOS as being in "BIOS jail," a term that reflects the oppressive and abusive atmosphere fostered by the staff. The deliberate withholding of vital information about her care and isolation from her family is unacceptable. It is a violation of her rights and undermines the very foundation of trust that families must have in caregiving organizations.
Furthermore, I have encountered significant obstacles in my attempts to communicate with my daughter. For over three weeks, I was denied any contact, and I was not informed of her whereabouts when she was moved due to a bed bug issue. My inquiries to the program manager, and area director yielded no satisfactory response; they were dismissive of my concerns until I escalated the matter to higher authorities. This lack of accountability is intolerable.
The misinformation provided to child welfare regarding my daughter's well-being during this time is deeply troubling. BIOS has consistently prioritized its interests over the health and safety of the children it claims to serve. The continued refusal to facilitate communication between my daughter and me must cease immediately.
There should be a thorough investigation into the operations of BIOS. The current practices not only jeopardize the well-being of my daughter but also reflect a broader pattern of neglect and abuse that cannot be overlooked. It is essential that BIOS shifts its focus from profit to genuine care and support for the individuals it serves.
Families seeking care for their loved ones deserve transparency, respect, and, most importantly, safety.
