Happy Birthday Piers Morgan Uncensored

Now before anyone sharpens their knives… yes, I’ve photographed him a few times, and no, he didn’t shout at me once. I mean, why would he. We both love Marmite.

He might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but then again I don’t like tea or football, so we’re already off to a questionable start.

What I will say is this, in the moments off-camera, the version you get one on one is a different bloke entirely. Engaged, curious, up for ideas, and more than willing to play along, which as a photographer is half the battle won.

We all have a persona we trot out for the world. Some louder than others. But behind it, there’s always a human just getting on with it.

So here’s to another year Piers. Keep stirring the pot, it keeps the rest of us entertained.

Thanks for another amazing commission.

Torchlight K9 Sound On!

Over the years my camera has taken me from studios in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York to all sorts of unexpected places.

This week it landed with the team at Torchlight K9 here in Tulsa.

Don’t be fooled by these cute little pups. Many of them are working dogs or in training.

And while the dogs are adorable… their handlers become significantly less cute once you remember the rule:

If you run, you will get bit.

Watching the bond develop between handler and dog was seriously impressive.Ted or as I’m now going to call him Mr Green, is a serious leader in the training of these first responders.

Of course our daughter has previously announced that if we ever get a dog, she wants one of these super pup$.

I’m fairly certain she thinks it’s a Labrador with extra features.

Managed by Miles Copeland, whose eye for talent shaped everything from The Police to this extraordinary dance movement, the project carried the same sense of precision, artistry, and edge.

My job was simple. Find the light for these sculptured artists.

Sadly a few years ago I was informed the 10 years of my images captured at Timeout magazine was destroyed in a fire at their storage facility in Shepherds Bush. 😩

Ive been meaning to set up a visit to Wompa for a while now. My mate Quentin by sheer coincidence if you believe in them or it was meant to happen, took me on a little adventure yesterday to visit this very cool artist space here in Tulsa.

By complete chance, I met Karen and Jeff here in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

They asked if I’d shoot their engagement photos.
Not really my usual gig, and to be fair, they didn’t want the usual gig either.

Long story short, we ended up shooting at the legendary Cain’s Ballroom, and the results were something special. Proper atmosphere, history in the walls, and a couple who trusted the process. Im close to many artists who have performed at Cains Ballroom. The whole experience has felt incredibly unique and a blessing.

Today I finally sat down and retouched one of the original images in the way I’d actually envisioned when I first pitched the idea. I made the swing. Jeff figured out his car stuff and Karen was in point for helping the creative process flow.

Yes, Photoshop AI helped speed things up, no shame there, but 90 minutes later this is where it landed.

Sometimes the jobs you don’t expect turn into the ones you enjoy the most.

Tulsa keeps surprising me.

A legend has left us…

I had the incredible privilege of spending an afternoon with Frank Gehry. He was a brilliant mind, generous spirit and one of architecture’s true visionaries.

He welcomed me into his world, patiently giving me more time than necessary to capture this portrait.
He proudly showed me his studio and designs, walking among his team of 150, energized and animated gathering people around to admire scale models of projects yet to come.

Today the world is quieter without him, but his genius lives on in buildings that will inspire generations.
Rest in peace, Sir Frank Gehry and thank you for showing us how to see the world differently 🕊️✨
