There were eleven of us at the table, yet it was set for twelve, deliberately, intentionally. That empty seat carries weight.
In Polish tradition, it is a place of honor. A silent invitation for the unexpected guest, a gesture toward the lonely, and a space reserved for those we miss, near or far, living or remembered. It is not about absence, but about values: hospitality without conditions, remembrance without words, and the belief that a table is only complete when it leaves room for another soul. That empty seat is powerful because it reflects who we are.
