The beautiful San Luis Valley - home to our tiny house!

Colorado's Los Caminos Antiguos Scenic Byway traverses the San Luis Valley, home to Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa and San Luis, the state's oldest town and site of the famed Shrine of the Stations of the Cross.

Until you've built a completely off-grid tiny house, you have no idea how exciting this moment is! Running water into the house and exiting to the septic system is a complicated process involving rain gutters, IBC totes, a pump, three filters, four solar panels and associated equipment, yards of PEX tubing and hours on your back under the house, grinding gravel into your shoulder blades. Love and thanks to hubby who made it possible.

The flushing toilet was even more celebrated! 😁

Goodnight from Colorado! What a busy day today. I installed running water to our toilet and to our sink. Then a neighbor helpers me extract an IBC tote my son, John and I buried in 2017. I pumped 100 gallons of water out of it yesterday into our rain catchment IBC tote. Pictures to follow.

They call it the CUBE (even though it's more of a square prism).
