Student Spotlight: Amari

Amari is a superstar student who has been working in the entomology lab for a year! In class, she studies marine science but in our lab she plays many roles, from digitizing microscope slides to imaging insects to sorting dragonfly nymphs! It takes a lot of work to keep the collections running, but Amari is up to the task!

The Gorgas House Museum honors the life and legacy of Clara Maass, a nurse who was dedicated to healing those around her and saving the lives of millions through our exhibit, “Clara Maass: She Gave Her Life”. The exhibit will be up until September 25, 2026.

See our new exhibit at the Alabama Museum of Natural History today from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. during this year's free "Alabama Fossil Fest", themed around fossil sharks and other marine life. We'll also have a presentation about identifying fossil shark teeth and door prize giveaways!
