Slash Pine Press

Slash Pine Press Housed at the University of Alabama, Slash Pine Projects publishes chapbooks of poetry and mixed-gen

Slash Pine Projects produces limited-run chapbooks of poetry and mixed-genre and hosts irregular and off-the-beaten-path reading events, including the Slash Pine Poetry Festival held at the end of April. For our chapbooks, the press seeks work where forms and intuitions make writing a process of risk and otherness. Neither cynical nor rhetorically meek, we want writing that is concerned with but

not limited by the map, whose logic is global, written against the grain of history and biography. The Slash Pine Writers Festival brings national and regional poets together for a two-day extravaganza of poetry. The festival highlights the public and democratic nature of creative work, refusing to privilege one form or aesthetic over another, and presenting diverse voices in non-traditional, communally-accessible spaces. The festival itself spreads widely across a range of venues, emphasizing that art is intimately connected to place.

Those years are gone forever, windswept skyward by the...
