"We live in a connected world where we have the opportunity to communicate with people on the other side of the planet every day. As a result, it is becoming increasingly more important that we have an understanding and appreciation of cultures other than our own. The University of Alabama is fortunate enough to have a vibrant and diverse community full of people who are excited to share their stories and experiences. On Oct. 6, I attended the Crimson Culture Gala, a celebration of diversity at the university. The photos below were captured as I learned new dances, met incredible people and tasted delicious food. I hope this photo essay will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and attend an event that you may not have considered."--Kinsey Stanley, Photographer
