The Twin Falls Police Department is aware that individuals who share the same name as the suspect identified in today’s press release may be incorrectly accused of being involved in yesterday’s In-N-Out incident.

We have been made aware of at least one individual with the same name as the suspect who is an active-duty military member and is now being harassed and falsely accused of being the shooter. This individual is not the suspect and is not involved in this incident.

We ask the public to avoid making assumptions, posting accusations, or contacting individuals based solely on a name. Sharing unverified information can cause serious harm to innocent people and their families.

Any threats, harassment, or intimidation directed toward individuals who are not involved in this incident may result in legal charges.

We appreciate the community’s help in stopping the spread of misinformation and protecting innocent members of the public.

We are grateful for the men and women in our local law enforcement. We stand by them and the commitment they make to keep our community safe. Please join us in continuing to pray for their safety, as well as for the families who have been impacted by yesterday’s devastating act of violence.

Even in light of yesterday’s incident, we want to assure you that law enforcement services remain available to our community. We are here if you need us.

Today and over the coming days, if you request law enforcement assistance, you may see an officer/deputy/trooper from one of our partnering agencies respond. These officers are here to help work alongside our officers to ensure continued public safety coverage and service to our citizens.

We would like to sincerely thank our law enforcement partners, including but not limited to the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, Nampa Police Department, Caldwell Police Department, Meridian Police Department - Idaho, and Idaho State Police, for assisting with law enforcement coverage for the citizens of Twin Falls.

Twin Falls Shooting Update!

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks says today's mass shooting at the In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls has resulted in multiple fatalities, though the exact number has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities are still notifying next of kin and working with St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center and the Twin Falls County Coroner's Office to determine the official number of people killed. Several others remain hospitalized with injuries.

Chief Hicks said hundreds of people were at or near the restaurant when the shooting happened, creating what he described as an extremely chaotic scene. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

Police say the threat to the public is over. The suspected shooter was found deceased near the scene. Investigators are now working to confirm the suspect's identity and determine a motive.

The investigation remains active, with assistance from the FBI, ATF and other state and federal agencies. Those teams will help process the crime scene, interview witnesses and determine exactly what happened.

Chief Hicks also praised the response of law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics, calling it one of the most chaotic incidents many first responders have ever faced. He said they performed with professionalism and courage under extraordinary circumstances.

Breaking news updates: There are unconfirmed reports that indicate at least one person has been shot possibly in the chest. Also unconfirmed that Highway 93 is open along with golf course road. Keep in mind that the roads could be closed at any time as this is still a active shooting scene.
