UPDATE: 12.8.25
In a direct email communications with Aspirus the Lake County Press requested a response to how Aspirus would rebuild trust with customers who dealt with the stress of possibly losing their preferred local providers at Aspirus Lake View while they waited for a contract decision with a looming deadline for insurance open enrollment. This is their response:
“At Aspirus Lake View and Aspirus St. Luke’s, our top priority is creating healthy, thriving communities. To succeed in this challenging environment, we must secure the fair reimbursement that allows us to pay our excellent care team competitively and invest in the technology and services our patients expect and deserve. We are thankful for the trust and patience our communities have shown throughout this process.”
After weeks of uncertainty for patients at Lake View in Two Harbors and Silver Bay, Aspirus and BCBS announced Friday they have reached a contract agreement.

Aspirus and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota have reached a new multi-year agreement that keeps Aspirus facilities in-network for members.

This includes Aspirus Lake View Hospital and clinics in Two Harbors and Silver Bay, ensuring uninterrupted access to care for residents.

The agreement is in effect through 2027, avoiding the end of local service at Lake View for those with BCBS-MN that would have expired on Dec. 31, 2025.

Update expected on 12/8/25.
