Emilie Lindemann and Tara Huck enjoyed the opening reception for the Lakeshore Artists Guild Art as Poetry, Poetry as Art exhibit at the Manitowoc Public Library Friday evening. Both poets, they delighted in the response of visual art to their submitted poems. They also welcomed the challenge of writing a poem inspired by a piece of art. This collaboration of the arts held in Manitowoc, featured twenty poets and artists. It is on display at the library through September and a link to the full exhibit is in the comments.

Emilie is the author of "Ghost(ed) Woman & the Electric Purple Pants, which was published in 2025 by FWP. She will be leading a workshop on October 24th at the Wisconsin Writers Association Fall Conference, which will be held in Manitowoc this year.

Her workshop is "Discover your Next Chapbook . . . Curious?" Chapbooks aren’t simply short collections of poetry or prose. At this hands-on session you'll discover how to compile your interests and wonders into a cabinet of curiosities (on paper) and find combinations that might lead to your next chapbook.

Bring the kids to the Chilton Public Library today from 4-6 p.m. to meet children's book author Brittni Nelson Author! Brittni will give a reading for kids and lead them in an art activity. Light refreshments. She will be able to sign books and answer questions about what's it like to be an author.

Her middle grade mystery, "The House on Hemlock Hill" is perfect for 10-12-year-old kiddos. The book takes place in a rural town near Lake Winnebago. This chapter book with illustrations is Brittni's third book.

I met Tina Prigge at the turn of the century when she was working at city hall, and I was working across the street for the daily newspaper.

I was impressed with her then. Her fierce intelligence and genuine efforts toward the betterment of the community were both inspiring and effective.

It was with great joy that I watched her receive a Women of Influence award from “Insight Magazine” last week. She shared the reality of living as a double amputee without anger, but rather with a positivity focusing on what is possible despite her profound disabilities that resulted from the careless and reckless actions of an impaired driver.

Following her remarks, the audience of about 250 erupted in a thunderous applause and standing ovation. Her words and spirit are truly that powerfully moving.

Tina puts her story out there to let all know that today is not the end of the story. There is always hope in believing what is possible and maintaining a positive attitude through life’s challenges.

Her husband Jason Prigge, who was also seriously injured in the motorcycle accident, was at her side—cheering her on and providing tangible and dignified support.

Together this couple has written a memoir, “Unbroken Us: A True Love Story,” that Fresh Water Press is honored to publish on Valentine’s Day 2027. It will move readers to tears at times and inspire them to live in love.
