Blue Bell is bringing the Lone Star Scoop Tour through the area, and they're making stops at plenty of places we already visit for groceries.

The house is called Hill House and was built a few years before the civil war. It started as a home but was then converted to a hospital. This house has a nefarious history of gambling, prostitution and/or murder, so its no wonder this house is full of horrors. Some of the top paranormal investigators have visited the home and always come away with some kind of evidence that something, or somethings, is still in that home.

One such story is of an entity known as "Toby." Toby likes to do all kinds of things to it's guests; things like cut them, bite them or even burn them. Your headlights serve a couple of purposes. One is to allow you to see what's in front of you when driving at night. The other is to allow other people to see you either at night, during inclement weather or in the dust and dawn parts of the day. Problem is, there are a select group of people who don't turn their headlights on at all.

Some of that has to do with the modern dashboard. It is always lit up which makes it seem like the headlights are on. Cars nowadays have sensors built in that will automatically turn on your headlights when the natural light gets dim. For whatever reason, some just don't keep this option on.

I have lived in East Texas my entire life. I have watched the area grow and grow and grow some more throughout my years. Even in that growth, not a lot surprises me when it comes to the people of East Texas.

One thing that does always surprise me is the weather. Yes, I am baffled by the weather we have every year in Texas. One summer we're in an oven, the next, we're not. Hundreds of courses in the Texas A&M System are losing their place in the core curriculum, and some of the subjects involved are getting extra attention.

Courses involving climate change, LGBTQ literature and ethnic studies are among those losing core status.

But here's the important part: the classes themselves aren't necessarily disappearing. They just may no longer count toward the core credits students need to graduate.

There's a pretty unusual competition happening in East Texas right now.

It doesn't involve football.

It doesn't involve high school sports.

And you don't need to lace up your running shoes to participate.

Personally, I don't have any tattoos. That doesn't mean I don't want to get one. I would like to get one, it just hasn't been a priority for me at this time. I will at some point. My step-daughter has a couple of them already, so does my wife.

My step-daughter is 20 years old so she is obviously of age to get a tattoo. It did get me to thinking, what is the youngest age someone can be to legally get a tattoo in Texas? There is a whole code that every parlor must abide by to continue to operate.

It sounds a little strange at first.

But there's a good reason for the unusual donation — and it has nothing to do with feeding the dogs at the shelter.
