Week 2: My Hair Journey
For so long, I didn’t know how to care for my own hair. As a Black woman with coarse, low-porosity hair, I always relied on hair salons-believing only they could ”get the job done.” I never thought I had what it took to do it myself. But about a year ago, when my hair was damaged again, I made a decision: no more hiding, no more depending—| i was going to learn how to love and care for my hair on my own. Since then, l’ve learned my hair type, the right products, oils, and-my proudest achievement-how to braid and style my hair myself. It’s been challenging, but it’s also been empowering. I gained trust in myself. Pride. Ownership. And the confidence that comes from knowing I no longer need to rely on anyone else to feel beautiful or capable. you don’t have to know everything today. You just have to be brave enough to start.
