Frenal Mezilas, a Haitian based artist in Uniondale will have his art exhibit at The Uniondale Public Library until the end of the month. Be sure to visit. Also, his favorite piece of art is one where he gets spirit from learning the stories of voodoo that it is often spoken about in Haiti. All of his work is told with a story behind it.

Uniondale students from Turtle Hook and Lawrence Road Middle School worked together in a unique setting at the Cradle of Aviation Museum learning about aviation where there is more to planes than just a pilot. The program also benefits the students to open the door in high school for their P-Tech program, allowing students to get an associates degree with career-focused studies in engineering and technology

Today Smith Street elementary school had a special activity, the entire school celebrated field day with their physical education teacher Freddy Vidal providing students with a different environment on how to have fun, build strong teamwork and leadership skills. One of the activities was the dunk tank where Olivia Grant, fifth grader who will be attending Turtle Hook Middle School next year, didn’t hold back.
