“Charges Filed in Kaitlin Whoolery Investigation
On April 16, 2024, we located the body of 17-year-old Kailin Nicole Whoolery on an abandoned property in North Union Township, Fayette County.
Kaitlin had absconded from her placement with Abraxas, a drug treatment facility, in November 2023 during a home visit and never returned.
Initial investigation suggested that Kaitlin had been the victim of a drug overdose and that her body was buried at an unknown location. In order to receive the precise location of Kaitlin's remains, missing for nearly 5 months, the District Attorney's office agreed not to pursue charges at that time against Vincent Cossell, 44.
This investigation remained active with PSP - Uniontown, which led to forensic testing, collection of additional evidence, and further interviews resulting in the filing of charges against Derrick Darnell Bradley, a/k/a "Dream," 37; these charges include Interference with the Custody of Children, Concealing the Death of a Child, Abuse of a Co**se, and Hindering Apprehension.
Bradley is currently incarcerated at the Fayette County Jail; we anticipate filing similar charges against Cossell this afternoon. Both defendants are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
We are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication of the numerous agencies involved in this investigation, including the Uniontown Police Department; Fayette County Bureau of Investigation; Fayette County Coroner's Office; Mercyhurst Forensic Anthropology Laboratory; and PSP - Uniontown. This investigation remains active; information can be provided to PSP, the District Attorney's Office, or Fayette County Crime Stoppers.”
