ARREST MADE IN FATAL REDSTONE TOWNSHIP HIT-AND-RUN
A 66-year-old man is behind bars facing major felony charges following an intensive multi-agency search into a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred yesterday in Redstone Township.
The Charges
Authorities have officially charged Mark DiMatteo, 66, in connection with the tragic crash. The primary charges filed against him include:
Homicide by Vehicle
Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury (Hit-and-Run)

Incident Details:
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred while 62-year-old Ronald Hostetler, of Confluence, PA, was in the process of loading equipment onto a trailer.
Investigating officers allege that DiMatteo struck Mr. Hostetler with his vehicle and immediately fled the scene. Rather than stopping to render emergency medical assistance, offer aid, or provide identification to responding authorities, DiMatteo left the area. Mr. Hostetler tragically died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Apprehension & Community Assistance:
Following the incident, multiple law enforcement agencies launched a coordinated effort to locate the driver and vehicle. Thanks to crucial leads, tips, and vehicle identification assistance provided by members of the local community, officers were able to track down and apprehend DiMatteo yesterday evening.
Authorities expressed their appreciation to the public for their rapid response and help in identifying the vehicle involved during the investigation.
Legal Status

FAYETTE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING TWO-INJURED DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN FAIRCHANCE

A dispute over a cellphone photograph escalated into a violent, broad-daylight drive-by shooting in Fairchance on Tuesday afternoon, leaving two people injured and a 20-year-old Fayette County man facing serious felony charges, including attempted homicide.

State Police in Uniontown have taken Nykolas House, 20, into custody. House faces an extensive list of formal charges:
Attempted Homicide
Aggravated Assault
Discharge of a Fi***rm into an Occupied Structure
Carrying a Fi***rm Without a License
Possession of a Prohibited Fi***rm
Receiving Stolen Property

Dispute Over Cellphone Photo Sparks Shooting
According to court paperwork filed by the Pennsylvania State Police, the sequence of events began a day prior following an ongoing altercation between House and 20-year-old Joseph Miller. Miller informed investigators that a dispute erupted after House spotted a photo of his girlfriend on Miller’s phone.
Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the confrontation turned critical on N. Main Street in Fairchance. Police report that House opened fire into a residence occupied by Miller and four other individuals. While House later claimed to investigators that he fired the initial rounds merely to "scare" Miller, the situation quickly intensified when House turned his vehicle around.
As Miller fled down the street on foot, House opened fire again, striking Miller in the leg.
Miller was rushed to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, for advanced medical treatment.
The gunfire also endangered nearby residents. Neighbor Dennis Carr, 60, was struck by shrapnel after walking outside with several other neighbors who had gathered upon hearing the initial gunshots.

Investigation & Arrest

Eyewitnesses provided authorities with a description of a tan Chevrolet Malibu, leading troopers directly to House’s residence on Elm Street. Upon police arrival, House surrendered willingly without further incident.
During questioning, House admitted to taking the fi***rm from Miller during their initial confrontation the day prior. Investigators subsequently recovered the weapon hidden under a dresser inside House’s home. Police verified that the handgun had previously been reported stolen out of Morgantown, West Virginia.
Court filings note that House is legally prohibited from possessing a fi***rm due to a prior conviction, in addition to being under the legal age requirement for a Pennsylvania concealed carry license.
Bail Denied & Court Date Set
District Judge Nathan Henning denied bail for House, citing that he poses a direct safety threat to both himself and the community. House is currently being held at the Fayette County Prison.
A preliminary hearing has been formally scheduled for September 2.

UNIONTOWN PA - The Laurel Highlands School Board voted unanimously Wednesday night to fire a third district staff member following allegations of inappropriate behavior with a former student dating back to 2009. A jury convicted Brianna Bloyer in the death of Bentlee Myers following a trial where prosecutors presented evidence of severe physical trauma.

Sources say a Uniontown man and a Hopwood woman are facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say they violently assaulted a woman.

According to court documents, Uniontown police responded to a residence on Locust Street shortly after 6 p.m., where they allegedly found Ryan Miciotto, 34, of Uniontown, and Angelina Lawver, 34, of Hopwood, assaulting Miciotto’s girlfriend.

Police allege Miciotto and Lawver took turns striking the girlfriend with a tire iron while also punching and kicking her during the attack. Court documents state she suffered a laceration to her head.

Both Miciotto and Lawver are charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, simple assault, conspiracy to commit simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, conspiracy to commit recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, and conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct. Miciotto also faces an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

District Judge Daniel Shimshock denied bail for both defendants, citing that they posed a threat to others. They are being held in the Fayette County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11.
