Today is normally the day I would announce the lineup for my end-of-year show, Midwest Skalidays. As I've already shared, I'm not doing one this year.
Reflecting on this year's Ninguid Fest, it took a lot out of me, mentally and physically. By the end of Saturday night, my back and knees were hurting so much that I was having trouble walking. They still hurt today.
I love putting these events together, but they require more than most people probably realize. By around 11:00 Saturday night, I felt like no one got the best version of me, and that's something that has been weighing on me. Everyone deserves the best version of me.
Yesterday I spent a good part of the day calling and talking to people because I felt like they didn't get that version of me. I apologized, and every single person I was able to talk to seemed to understand. Some even told me they didn't think I'd done anything wrong. I appreciate hearing that, but I still felt like I needed to say it.
So, was this the last Ninguid Fest? I honestly don't know.
Will it be the last one for a while? I don't know that either.
Right now I just need some time to process everything, relax, recover, and make sure I don't lose the passion for these events or the relationships I've built because of them.
