I shifted from the grind… to getting grounded.

There was a time I was always in search of the next big thing.
The next milestone. The next win. The next reason to prove I was doing enough.
And if I’m honest, it didn’t feel like success—it felt like survival.

But the deeper I got into my calling, the more I realized…
Peace is productive too.
Rest is powerful.
And joy doesn’t have to be earned by exhaustion.

Now I’m leaning into the simple things—
The quiet. The routines. The purpose behind what I do.
I’m not hustling to prove myself.
I’m serving from a place of alignment.

Because this isn’t just work for me—
It’s my profession. It’s my calling. It’s my peace.

Entrepreneurship has taught me more than just how to run a business… it’s taught me about the weight of my prayers.

We pray for increase.
We pray for more clients.
We pray for expansion, visibility, impact, abundance.
And while all of that is beautiful—it comes with another level of responsibility, tenacity, and patience that we don’t always talk about.

Lately, I’ve been reminded:
Before the breakthrough, there’s a burden.
Before the abundance, there’s an adjustment.
Before the “more,” there’s maturity.

As entrepreneurs, we have to understand the weight of what we’re asking for.
More isn’t just about receiving—it’s about being prepared to carry what comes with it.

So today, I just want to encourage someone:
If you’re waiting on the next level, pause and ask—am I preparing for what I’m praying for?

Because sometimes, the delay isn’t denial.
It’s development.

Keep building. Keep becoming.
You’re not just running a business—you’re growing into who you need to be to sustain it.

Innovative Change Makers has partnered with the Big Brother Big Sister Program in hosting a 6-week Youth Braiding Workshop Series! 🎉💕 The Braiding Workshop sessions will consist of hands-on classes led by four local braiders, bringing different areas of expertise, entrepreneurial journeys, and lots of knowledge to share. They are so excited to share their hands-on braiding techniques as well as talk about what they’ve learned from years of experience in the business! We will provide mannequins for each registered youth to practice on, all the required tools, hair products, and written materials.

The entire workshop series consists of 6 sessions with a total of 12 hours of learning (6 Saturday sessions x 2 hrs/session) and requires 10 hours of attendance for graduation! We want to make sure our youth are able to get the best possible experience and gain the skills they need to successfully braid hair and start a business on their own if that’s something they may be passionate about!! Our facilitators will cover the entrepreneurial piece of starting a braiding business, covering pricing, branding, business requirements, and next steps! 🙌🏽🎉
