What a rewarding way to volunteer and give back to our community. Kiersten and I volunteered this weekend with a local organization to Adopt a Highway.

Adopt a Highway is just one of many ways to volunteer and help keep our community beautiful. We should band together whenever possible to take care of the world we live in.

It’s crazy to believe that this was just a 2 mile stretch of road we picked up all this litter on. Do your part and don’t litter. We have a beautiful planet worth protecting!

Interested in checking out this historic city of Savannah, GA? We’ll we’ve got a few spots you can’t miss!! Savannah is just under 4 hours from uptown Charlotte and such a great getaway! It’s known for its cobblestone streets, horse drawn carriages, river front views, and open carry laws 😂

Must do’s downtown Savannah:
🌳Visit Chippewa Square where the iconic Forrest Gump bench scene took place
🚶🏻‍♀️Stroll down “the prettiest street in Savannah,” Jones Street
👫Walk down cobblestone River Street: enjoy the shopping, history, and river view
🐴Do a historic tour of the city via horse drawn carriage

Your guide to Tybee Island, GA:

Tybee island was a hidden gem well never forget oozing with SOUTHERN CHARM! This tiny island is located just 4 hours south of Charlotte, NC and is just off the coast of Savannah, GA.

The people in Tybee are a delight! We loved biking and walking to almost everywhere on the island making mingling that much easier. We’ll also take the 75 degree weather in off season January anytime!

A couple places you’ve got to check out:
🚲Fat tire bike rentals: just $15/day and you can bike whole island, definitely the highlight of our trip!
💡Tybee Island Light Station & Museum: $12/ person to walk to the top and visit the museum
🌊 Tybee Beach Pier & Pavilion: long walks on the beach or night fishing here
🍹Wet Wi***es: rainbow wall of various frozen cocktails (touristy, but it’s so fun!)
🍻Nickie’s 1971: nightlife with the Georgia locals and great live music
🥪The Cafe on 80 Deli & Bakery: everything is fresh and amazing we loved the Avocado Melt and Philly Cheese Steak
🦀Sting Ray’s Seafood: for crab legs!
🍳Sunrise Resteraunt: honestly it was the only place open for breakfast but such a hometown feel at this place!
🥑Mi Vida: avocado toast and açaí bowls YUM
🍕Tybee Island Pizza: when you just wanna chill and eat pizza on the beach
🍦Sweet Dreams ICE CREAM: you can never have too much

Looking for a weekend getaway? 🧳

If you haven’t already, you’ve got to visit Wrightsville Beach, NC! Wrightsville beach is a 4 mile long island located just off the coast of Wilmington. This tropical paradise is just 3.5 hours from uptown Charlotte and is the perfect spot no matter the season.

Cam and I love visiting beach towns in the off season because you get to enjoy them from a whole other side with no crowds. Weather you’re strolling through the sand in a sweat shirt, shopping at a local boutique, or enjoying the beach bars Wrightsville has got a little for everyone!

These are some of our favorite things to do in town:
🚶🏻‍♀️Walk the Wrightsville Beach loop
💃🏻Dancing at Red Dogs .wb
🥂Brunch at King Neptune’s
⛵️Boat rides through the intercostal waterway

HIKING RECOMMENDATION!

If you love the great outdoors this ones for you! Located just 1 hour east of Uptown Charlotte 🏙 in Albemarle, NC you’ll find the beautiful Marrow Mountain 🗻 State Park! You know I love the fall leaves, and being in this park just puts you in the middle of everything🍂.

The unique thing about Marrow Mountain is you can DRIVE TO THE TOP 🚙. That’s right, so everyone can enjoy this view even without a hike.

That said, there are tons of beautiful hiking trails throughout the park and a plethora of other activities including camping⛺️, swimming in Lake Tillery🏊‍♂️, horseback riding🐴, cabin rentals🏡, and more!

P.S. Marrow Mountain is actually a dormant volcano.

If you couldn’t tell, WE ARE CHRISTMAS OBSESSED 🎄 here at CLT Living! So you know decor was right up our alley!

This sports bar in the heart of South End is DECKED OUT head to toe in decor🤶🏼! At the very least, you’ve got to pop in to check out their impressive upside down Christmas tree🔃.

They also have a 12 Drinks & Shots of Christmas menu🍹! Be warned, the drinks and shots aren’t labeled which is which😂 that said all the ones we tried were delicious!

DRINK FAVORITES:
🍪 The Christmas Cookie shot was my favorite for a holiday drink! So creamy!
💚The Grinch is basically an Absolute Lime car bomb in cider! It was surprisingly amazing, would drink again!
🦌The Gettin Blitzen shot was a crowd favorite, I could sip it all year long! Super fruity and refreshing.

When exploring the historic downtown of Kannapolis, there’s a reason why I say you have to stop by Marketplace on Main.

LIGHT THE KNIGHTS/ CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

Head over to Truist Field 🏟in uptown Charlotte for this holiday spectacular! 🤶🏼

Light the Knights operates 7 days a week from 5-10pm, tickets are $10/person. This outdoor walk through experience is complete with lights in every direction. From Christmas Tree🎄 Lane, to a Snowtastic Winter Wonderland❄️, to the field lighting up by music ⚾️YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Their vendor Christmas Village 🎅🏼is included with tickets to Light the Knights or you can visit during daytime hours at 12:00pm for only $5/person! This is a great place to get some last minute Christmas shopping 🛍finished!

🍺We recommend trying the spiked apple cider. Souvenir mugs are also so cute!

I was convinced was all an illusion until I visited. When I stepped inside, you could feel the lack of gravity in the building. They also showed several examples that just made no other sense.

While the gravity indifference can’t be answered for certain. They’ve cross-referenced with similar anomalies around the country and discovered they all have a large iron deposit below them, which could trigger the changes in gravity. There are a lot more creepy signs, but you’ll have to visit for yourself for the full story!

At just 2 hours north west of Charlotte, Blowing Rock is an amazing weekend getaway. And while WNC is still recovering, Blowing Rock is ready for tourism to get them back on their feet!
