No blowouts with 3-yard footer. Well I regret to inform the “keyboard soldiers” from my last post who insisted I’d have a blowout that after pouring a 4 inch slump my forms didn’t budge a millimeter. This was the biggest Footer I’ve ever poured, 64”x64” and roughly 4’ high due to nearly vertical ledge right way the point load will go.

The single footer was nearly 3 yards of concrete, which in my world of pouring for sheds and carports is quite substantial.

Help me understand this… House on my street is being flipped (I’m assuming this based on what they paid and what they’ve been doing to the house). They just poured this pretty nice looking driveway, but I watched them do it and they just poured one huge solid slab over gravel with no rebar or anything. There also isn’t any expansion joints cut into the driveway, though they cut them into the sidewalk so they must know they’re needed.

I guess my question is, this flipper looking to just save money doing it cheaply so the future owner buys without realizing? And, how long generally until a project like this starts to show cracks?

Guy Wire in the way of upcoming pour. Having the top part of my driveway poured in a couple days ago. The concrete company built the form around the guy wire coming down from the pole. The owner said he thinks he can dig around it and knock it to the side enough to have the driveway poured where the form is. I’m worried that over time it may start coming back towards the driveway and cause problems in the concrete. Has anyone had experience with this sort of thing?

I also spoke to the electric company about it. That said they could move it but it would be $1000 and wouldn’t happen for about a month.

Any help or opinions are appreciated.

Gf has a "friend". Gf has a patio done. She texted me and said that there's another layer going on tomorrow. I used to work at a pool installer that did flat work and assumed it was stamped and needing release and sealer or something, but instead she mentioned more concrete because he ran short. I guess he's using Quikrete Concrete Bonding Adhesive and is adding a 3" thick layer that will have reinforcement. I don't know much but I am assuming this is a hack job and needs to be torn out and replaced and am looking for opinions from more knowledgeable people. This is the pic at the end of the day.
