A Breaking of Realms has now been a #1 bestseller in TWO Amazon categories for over 10 days!

In a lot of ways, this isn't just a post about book success. It's also about life success.

One thing life continues to teach me, in particular with this chaotically fantastic launch, is that your true friends will be there for you no matter what level of success you achieve.

Some people will only be your friend if you're failing. They find joy and "friendship" in commiserating with you.

Some people become toxically insecure if you do better than them. This may range from intentional harm toward you to ignoring you completely.

Some people will, on the flip side, suddenly become your friend when you "become someone," but these same people will be the first to vanish if you hit a valley and (temporarily) lose it all.

And some people will be there for you, cheering for you, and loving you, no matter how well you do and who you become in the process.

Those are your true friends.

Success is one great trial - it teaches you who your "friends" really are, and more importantly, who YOU really are.

I'm learning to let go if I don't "get invited to the party" or if I lose "friends" who were never really my friends.

I'm learning to focus on the positive and massively celebrate and express gratitude for all the GOOD that good things bring.

And there's been overwhelmingly way more GOOD that's come out of this, thanks to my beloved community.

Yesterday, when I was at a party, a bunch of high earning millennials asked what I did for a living.

By the end of the night, my answer was just “I’m an author.”

It was the first time I didn’t open with my day job. Or mention my day job in any form, like I needed to apologize for something.

For the first time, being “an author” was enough.

As someone who grew up in a high performing Asian family that expected you to be a lawyer, engineer, doctor, etc., being an author was not a legit career. Or something to be proud of.

Yet, I’m loving this new freedom.

And I have all my precious readers to thank for making this dream possible.

Q: When you define yourself to others, is there anything you are holding back? Is it time to let go of the shame and guilt?

IMPORTANT LAUNCH UPDATE:

If you previously read or purchased A Battling of Continents, you will have read in the foreword that I was not able to finish Part IV before launch due to the sheer volume of this story.

The next chapters are now up!

There are a few ways you can access them:

1) Easiest: If you return to the book in your Kindle, the private Bookfunnel link now has the missing files uploaded. You can download them to your reading app as you normally would another ebook.

2) Wait for the book to upgrade on its own.

After 22,000 additional words into Part IV, it's still not done. I anticipate we have about that equivalent length left.

Skalda and Bale aren't getting off the hook easily. The ending planned for this book is going to be EXPLOSIVE.

I am so sorry it's been total chaos with this launch, but this community has continued to blow me away with your graciousness, compassion, and support.

Also, the early reviews coming in have been STELLAR!

I hesitate to give set ETAs on the final chapters anymore, but I am pretty confident everything will be done by 9/1, next Monday - if not sooner!

After that time, once we have all chapters done, I will ask Amazon to upgrade everyone's Kindle to reflect the new chapters for free. No need to repurchase the book.

I'm not surprised A Battling of Continents already hit #1 new release... BECAUSE THIS COMMUNITY IS FREAKING AMAZING!

Thanks to you, we've already had a super strong launch. Nearly 1,000 orders have passed through the Realm Breaker series today and I anticipate we'll break that milestone before midnight.

As more time goes on, truly, I mean it when I say these are never MY launches anymore.

These are OUR launches. We achieve incredible new milestones because of what YOU make possible.

This launch has been no different - although it's hands down been the most CHAOTIC WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE and I've felt you right by my side through it all, especially during the nights when I really needed assurance and a kind word.

This is without a doubt the most difficult launch I've been through, and I appreciate so much the community's patience.

SOME BIG COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS!

(Preorders) As mentioned previously, I had to cancel preorders and reupload the book to Amazon today so that we would have enough time to ensure the right version got to you.

I sincerely apologize for any chaos this may have caused... but (plot twist) the intentional chaos may all part of the Realm Breaker experience!

(Physical Formats) I anticipate physical formats will first be available in paperback on Amazon in September.

Hardbacks are currently exclusively being sold (and signed with swag) at my Dragonfyre Bookstore. Paperbacks AND hardcovers are currently on preorder on my website!

All of them will come signed and with a signed art cart with deluxe character art I will be revealing in a separate post (in all its glory!).

TWO days left.. AND IMPORTANT NEWS!

As y’all probably know by now, this has hands down been the most challenging launch I’ve ever encountered.

Because of the logistics of Amazon preorder deadlines, what will need to happen is that tomorrow, Tuesday (8/20), I will be cancelling preorders.

But please don’t be alarmed!

I have to do this because the ebook currently uploaded to Amazon is a version from four days ago.

You will see preorders cancel tomorrow, but I will be reuploading the book on Wednesday (8/20) as originally planned.

Has this ever been done before?

I don’t know, but it’s roguish. And (plot twist) maybe it’s all part of giving you the visceral Realm Breaker rogue experience.

You’ll have to find out… and keep your eyes out for the deluxe character art reveal coming out during launch!

THREE days left!

I cannot even begin to tell you how excited and nervous and burnt out and meltdowny and all those feelings you probably feel when you’re on a dragon taking a dive—that’s what I feel.

We are definitely still launching on Wednesday, but there’s a chance I will need to cancel preorders and just release the book manually.

The reason being, Amazon requires you to upload a book four days before, and on Saturday night, it definitely wasn’t ready.

I’m not sure exactly how this is gonna play out, but I’m trusting the process and I guess we’re really going down the rogue path.

Contained chaos. Improv. But like Skálda during ritefest, we always win in the end.

True Realm Breaker style.

Last week, I was losing sleep over the launch update announcement I made, and super nervous knowing a lot of people are waiting on this book.

I mean, we're seeing new milestones our community as never hit:

Okay, here goes… I’ve been angsting over this for a good portion of this week.

But I need to make an important decision, and I’m reaching out my hand to ask if you can come with me and hang on for a little longer.

A BATTLING OF CONTINENTS LAUNCH DATE: It’s now being moved to the final date of Wednesday August 20th.

The only way I can explain this is like I’m trying to give birth to a baby that just WILL NOT COME OUT! 😂😭

It feels like a complicated pregnancy of early dilations, false signs, stubborn developments…

But we are SO CLOSE now to being done.

And I promise it’s going to be worth the wait.
