Nightcap Knowledge Nightcap Knowledge: experiences & insights into music, Southern Black culture, and community issues.

10/09/2025

Tonight on Nightcap Knowledge, we’re unpacking what happened at Tougaloo College during the recent panel discussion on “Criminalization, Surveillance, & Silence: Academic Perspectives on Snitching in Hip Hop Discourse.” The event, meant to spark dialogue, took an unexpected turn — but beyond the headlines and the outburst, Tougaloo students and panelists showed the real power of HBCUs: asking hard questions, demanding accountability, and defending the culture.

We’ll discuss:
- The role of HBCUs as spaces for truth-telling and challenging ideas.
- Why conversations about snitching, criminalization, and surveillance matter in Hip Hop and Black communities.
- How students at Tougaloo reminded us that our legacy is rooted in resistance and intellectual courage.

This isn’t about one outburst — it’s about what it means to engage in hard conversations, even when they get uncomfortable.

Tune in for a raw and real discussion you won’t want to miss.
