The Browns quarterback competition will be altered for the short term. It has nothing to do with performance, though.

Kenny Pickett sustained a hamstring injury late in practice Saturday, July 26, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report.

Pickett is expected to be reevaluated later in the week. The Browns were off July 27, but practice three consecutive days starting July 28.

The injury is believed to have occurred late while the Browns were running an 11-on-11 series from the 20. It was, ironically enough, maybe the best series of training camp for Pickett.

A man is dead after he was electrocuted while doing construction work at the Walmart distribution center in Grove City, on Thursday.

According to a report from the Division of Police, officers were called to the distribution center, located at 3880 Southwest Blvd., around 9:40 a.m. on a report of a construction accident.

A 17-year-old was shot and hospitalized after the Summit County Fair Saturday night.

According to a post, at around 11:15 p.m., after the fair closed, an individual shot into a car.

One person was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital by the Tallmage Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Tallmage Police responded, and the investigation is active and ongoing.

An man pleaded no contest to charges of child endangerment and felonious assault on Friday.

Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich said Jason Smith, 48, pleaded no contest to allegations including starving and abusing a child.

Prosecutors say Angela Smith, 43, pleaded no contest on July 7 to the same charges and allegations.

The abuse reportedly happened between 2020 and 2024.

Angela and Jason Smith are due for sentencing on Sept. 11.

Police called in the drones after they found a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at 4 a.m. with an armed man in the driver’s seat.

Police were called to the intersection of Clague Road and Belmont Drive on Friday, July 11 for the stopped car.

According to a release from Westlake Police, officers found a man unconscious behind the wheel of the running vehicle with a gun in his waistband.
