Since early chariots were found dating back to 1400 B.C., lubrication in some form has been used.

This ancient experimentation involved using different oils or fats to reduce friction and heat. These marked the dawn of lubrication in machinery.

With our modern world, lubrication is still an essential part of machinery, a statement to the true significance of the achievements and milestones along the way.

For over a century, operators defaulted to heavy, high-viscosity lubricants under the assumption that “thicker is better.”

While these products provided some surface protection, they often failed to pe*****te into the microscopic wear zones of pins, bushings, and rollers where lubrication is most critical.

Newer development of low viscosity synthetic lubricants are changing the game, proving to provide efficient and reliable lubrication for extending conveyor chain life.

Viscosity is the most important physical property of a lubricant.

It represents an oil's resistance to flow and shear, and is crucial for lubricant selection and application.

All of these factors influence viscosity except one. Do you know which one it is?

Even small oil leaks can come into contact with food, potentially causing contamination. ⚠️

If the lubricant is nonfood-grade, the FDA allows 0 amounts of lubricant to come in contact with food. ❌

More companies are switching to food-grade synthetic lubricants because they perform better, last longer, and help cut the risk of contamination.

Worm gears have more specialized lubrication demands than most due to their unique operating conditions. The 3 major types are:

Non-throated: Straight worm, single-point contact, high load and wear

Single-throated: Concave helical teeth, line contact, higher load, less wear

Double-throated: Concave teeth on worm and gear, larger contact, max load, minimal wear

What’s the solution to the $50 billion lost every year from unplanned downtime in manufacturing?

It can't be solved with newer tech or better equipment.

The problem is the culture.

Assets run the show, and teams react instead of lead. Shifting to a collaborative, proactive culture is what puts people—not machines—back in charge.
