🎥 Just wrapped recording my 3rd LinkedIn course! This one dives into how to use Dovetail's AI-enabled research repositories to streamline workflows, keep the human in the loop, and make better informed design decisions. I enjoy using Dovetail for video transcription, analysis, and synthesizing insights. My next course will explore these practices and more.

As we step into 2025, I’m filled with excitement for the opportunities ahead and the chance to make an even greater impact through education, research, design, and equity-focused work.

Here are a few milestones I’m excited to share:

1️⃣ I’m Teaching the NN/g Course on Inclusive and Equitable UX! 🌍 – On February 14, I’ll be leading this critical course, where we’ll dive into research and design practices for experiences that are inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all. If you’re interested, make sure to sign up on the NN/g website! Let’s work together to create designs that represent and serve everyone.

2️⃣ My 3rd LinkedIn Learning Course Launches Early This Year! 📚 – I’m so excited to announce that my third course is coming soon! Stay tuned for updates—I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on.

3️⃣ Developing Custom GPTs for Black Maternal Health & Inclusive Language in Tech 🤖 – I’m currently in the process of creating and testing specialized GPT tools to address disparities in Black maternal health and promote inclusive language in tech. More details will be coming soon. This work is a labor of love and I’m so passionate about the potential to make a positive impact with these tools.

Happy Juneteenth!✊🏾✨ Today, we celebrate the liberation of enslaved people in the US and are especially grateful for our ancestors who fought for freedom.

Juneteenth is the celebration of enslaved people in Texas finally receiving word of the abolishment of slavery. On January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect. It wasn't until June 19, 1865, however, that freedom finally came. The proclamation could not be applied to places still under Confederate control, and as a result, enslaved people in Texas would not be free until Union troops arrived in 1865 to announce the executive decree.

The holiday's name is a combination of the words "June" and "nineteenth", as it was on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. (Wikipedia)

It's interesting to observe the parallel to today's society, where Black, brown, and low-income communities still have hindered access to information and technology that could be a catalyst to thei future. Whether it's access to computers and the internet or websites providing key resources and information lacking readability and accessibility for various needs, there is still work to be done in the intersection of information, equity, and inclusivity, highlighting the importance of Nerdy Diva and partnering institutions and organizations.

Remember freedom isn't free and the marathon continues. 💜🎉
