WHAT MAKES HUMANS ANY DIFFERENT AS WE AGE?

(Given that we are mostly comprised of water.)

So what really is aging?

Well, surely we can all generally agree that it's the human body breaking down. Things don't look or work as they once did. Which is okay, although may be uncomfortable and undesirable in certain aspects.

There is plenty of evidence supporting that humans are more prone to dehydration with age, and this can be due to:

The QUALITY of water that we are drinking. Is the water we are consuming able to pe*****te and absorb easily into our cells? Are we able to take it in and actually retain it?

Kidney function tends to decline with age, affecting the body's ability to concentrate urine and retain water. This can lead to increased water loss through urine. (Interestingly enough, proper hydration can improve kidney function and touch this issue at the root.)

Older adults generally have a higher proportion of fat to muscle, and fat holds less water than muscle. This means that older individuals may have a lower total body water content, making them more susceptible to dehydration. (this is a reminder to stay on top of fitness as well!)

Aging may lead to a decreased sensation of thirst, making older individuals less inclined to drink water even when their bodies need it.

Hormonal changes associated with aging, such as alterations in antidiuretic hormone (ADH) levels, can impact the body's water balance.

If we want to live long and healthy lives we really need to be thinking about the quality of water we are consuming.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬...

This is a saying Burners know well….

It is a principle that applies to life in general. The universe provides and is always working for you if you choose to trust, surrender, and believe.

Sometimes what is for us isn’t necessarily the easiest option and can be painful…. But this is on purpose… it is working for us and our highest evolvement.

We do not grow by staying stuck in the comfort zone and by continuing to follow the same behavior patterns or routines.

We grow by being uncomfortable. Just as a diamond is formed from being under immense pressure… we too can transform into our most beautiful and highest selves by playing with our shadows and edges and getting out of our comfort zones.

As cliche as it sounds, there really is beauty in the breakdown…. Because in the breakdown, there is also a breaking open of the heart. There is a certain level of rawness and vulnerability that comes from the struggle and pain of heartbreak.

In Japanese culture, the art of kintsugi entails using broken pieces of pottery and putting them back together with gold. This is a metaphor for embracing our flaws and knowing that our imperfections are actually our gold… the very thing that makes us perfect and unique.

So embrace your flaws and imperfections and know always that the universe is working for you and your highest evolvement.

The universe is abundant and always provides. I feeling deeply grateful for my journey thus far and all it’s ups and downs. So excited to be gifted the opportunity to return home to the playa this year and see what lessons the sacred grounds of black rock city have to teach me.

What a wild beautiful crazy tide this thing called life is! I am so blessed!

It is so easy to get lost in comparison and think that you are not doing enough or haven’t achieved enough when looking at other’s lives.

But the truth is, the only person we should be comparing ourselves to is the former version of ourselves.

It’s so easy to get lost in thinking about the future or what we have yet to achieve that we often lose track of how far we’ve actually come, how much progress we’ve made, and how much growth we have accessed.

Remember, the former version of you would be so proud!

Don’t get lost in the future or the past and trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be!

Those close to me know how challenging the last 2 years have been dealing with a fractured hip and crippling misalignment.

I went from being super athletic, active, and healthy to being in debilitating chronic pain every day.

It has not only affected my physical health, but also my mental health. It has been so difficult to stay positive and bright when you are hurting and barely getting by just doing simple things like walking.

It has been very challenging to keep the faith and the hope alive after trying every possible modality of healing to no avail. There have definitely been times I have felt hopeless and wanted to give up….

This past week I decided that I am going to take my power back and go back to the gym to get stronger. Yes there is pain; yes there are many things I cannot do like I used to…. But, there are lots of things I can do… and that gives me hope.

I will get through this. I will heal. I will continue to trust, surrender, and have faith that it is all working out for me. I will not give up. I am strong! I am a fighter! I am a warrior!
