In the early hours of Sunday, August 3, The Fargo Police Department responded to two separate shooting incidents. The first occurred at approximately 1:56 a.m. in the 50 block of Broadway. In the downtown incident, three adults sustained gunshot wounds — one victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, one remains in critical condition and one sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 2:26 a.m., officers responded to a second incident in the 4700 block of 16th Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers located one individual deceased. No other injuries were reported.

Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney stated, “We all awoke this morning to shocking developments in Fargo. While we are assuredly shaken, I want to reiterate that Fargo is a safe community with a steadfast, dedicated and well-equipped police force that will tirelessly investigate these homicides. I am asking for the public’s patience as FPD does its work by uncovering the facts and not the hype. Fargo remains a unified community that values safety, cares about one another and stands together in trying teams.”

Police Chief Dave Zibolski added, “A significant amount of work is underway to gather evidence, conduct interviews and determine the sequence of events that led to this incident. We understand the community wants answers, and we’re committed to doing the work needed. Our detectives are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence. We continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward so we can hold those involved accountable.”

The Fargo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating both incidents. At this time, it is unknown whether the shootings are connected. Detectives are working to determine any potential links between them.

Anyone with information that may assist in either investigation is encouraged to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701.451.7660. Anonymous tips may be submitted by texting the keyword FARGOPD and the tip to 847411.
