🌱 Plant the Seed. Watch the Life. 🌱
This morning felt different. I went out and harvested the very last of my summer crops — mostly peppers of every variety and a few stubborn tomatoes still holding on. Barefoot, in the cool crisp air, I was joined by 5 of our 9 grands, all still in their PJs, running, laughing, and playing in the garden. Even little Basil Benjamin was out there with us, tail wagging.
As I pulled those last plants from the ground, I felt something deep in my spirit: it’s time to transition. Just like this garden, I’m stepping into a new season. Summer is over in my garden and in my life. My queen, my mom, went home on July 29, 2025, the same day my dear friend Temeka became a granny for the first time to her beautiful granddaughter, Brooklyn. The day that broke me also birthed new life for someone I love.
That’s the way of life, isn’t it? Death and birth, endings and beginnings, harvest and planting.
Today I’m choosing to plant again. Not just my fall crops, but new thoughts, new habits, new faith. I’m ripping out what no longer serves me, just like I rip out the old plants to make room for the new.
I even surprised myself today when the group of people who usually knock on doors came around, I opened it this time. No dodging, no hiding. A small step, but a big sign: I’m ready for new growth.
The Word says:
🌾 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
🌾 “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9
🌾 “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19
So here I am, bare feet on the soil, planting seeds for my next season mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. My garden and my heart are both under construction.
If you’re reading this, let me ask you what seeds are YOU planting in this new season of life? Drop them below so we can all water and watch them grow together. 💛
