That's it, your Tampa Bay Rays win in walk-off fashion on opening day, against the Colorado Rockies 3-2 at Steinbrenner Field. Kameron Misner with his first at bat in the bottom of the 9th on the first pitch goes deep 367 ft to right field. Misner had a strong spring, and is now taking full advantage of his opportunity with Tampa Bay. Misner is the first player in MLB history to hit a homerun on a walk-off on opening day
Honestly, this was a typical Rays game where for the majority of it they struggled offensively, but that's why you never give up on this team. In the 7th inning down 2-0, Brandon Lowe with a single to right center, followed by Junior Caminero with a double to left field moving Lowe to third. Kevin Cash decided to pinch it for Christopher Morel with Jonathan Aranda and it paid off with Aranda hitting a sac fly to score Lowe. Caminero moved to third and after catcher Danny Jansen's walk, Jose Caballero singled to left field to score Caminero and it's tied at two.
Speaking of Jansen, this could be a major upgrade at the catching position not only with his bat, but also his glove. What a play in the top of the ninth inning, after reliever Pete Fairbanks walked the leadoff man in Nick Martini who was taken out for Mickey Moniak to run was thrown out by Jansen after a back handed snare with a perfect throw to nail Moniak at second base.
Ryan Pepiot pitched well going six innings with only one earned run given up with eight strikeouts. Tampa Bay will continue their series with the Colorado Rockies tomorrow afternoon at 4:10, as we always say and good night from Tampa. The Sports Web
