Three Mattawa juveniles stole a car in Mattawa and were apprehended in Ephrata. Found on the car were fi****ms and drugs. Details here from Grant County Sheriff's Office.
Over the weekend, three Mattawa boys were arrested Saturday morning after stealing a car and leading police on a short pursuit near Ephrata.
Deputies at around 6:30 a.m. received a stolen vehicle report after a black Ford Fusion was taken from the 100 block of Second Street in Mattawa. The description of the car was broadcast to police countywide.
Around 8:30 a.m., an Ephrata Police officer pulled over the stolen Ford Fusion, and the vehicle took off as the officer got out of his car. A pursuit was started and the Fusion eventually traveled south on Dodson Road Northwest from State Route 282.
Heavy fog south of Ephrata caused Ephrata Police units to terminate the pursuit. A deputy at Road 10.8-Northwest and Dodson Road Northwest set out spike strips that flattened the driver’s side tires on the Fusion as the occupants continued to flee.
Deputies soon found the Fusion crashed in a ditch at Dodson Road Northwest and Road 4-Northwest and three people were seen running west from the car. Three boys, ages 14, 14, and 16, were quickly found in an empty irrigation canal under Dodson Road and taken into custody.
Found with the three boys were a .22-caliber revolver, a stolen .22-caliber rifle, and a small amount of drugs.
The three boys were lodged in the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and attempting to elude police.
