The recent delay of the Neo Geo AES+ has left me extremely disappointed. Plaion shot out of the gate so bold and confident that I was sure they had their act together.

They didn't. And I'm exhausted.

I'm genuinely tired of seeing these types of delays constantly. I worked in R&D and manufacturing for 13 years. I know the realities. I know s**t happens. I know the current environment is chaos. But it seems to be happening with everything. EVERY. DAMN. TIME.

What makes it harder to stomach is the fact that so many of these products take paid preorders up front. If you take full payment up front, then the people who paid should get the product on time, even if you can't meet the original promises. Why are these people, of all your customers, being punished so everyone can get it at the same time? Plaion has had my funds, over $1000 USD, for the past 5 months. I don't care if Little Billy, who preordered from Amazon and hasn't spent a dime yet, gets his Neo Geo AES+ when everyone else does. I paid FULL PRICE immediately. I want what I was promised.

Though it seems I'm angry as all get out, I'm not. Plaion made a call that I do not like, but I still wish them the best. I still hope it's an incredible product.

However, Plaion will NOT keep my funds for another year. The world we live in has changed, and so must I. No more paid-up-front preorders for me. Refund requested.

I don’t often comment on the death of celebrities or people in the games industry. I didn’t know those people personally and don’t want to feign emotion I don’t genuinely have.

But I just heard that Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime, has passed at the age of 85.

I was a Transformers kid through and through back in the 80s. Loved the toys and the cartoon. A huge part of that was the character of Optimus Prime. He was positioned not just as the leader of “the good guys”, but a genuine force of caring and positivity for all those around him. He lead with strength and compassion, never lowering himself to the tactics of his enemies. All life had value and should be free to exist as they saw fit. This was a profound source of inspiration for me as a child. It shaped how I thought and felt about everyday things. A real role model born from a fictional character.

It pains me to know I will never hear Mr. Cullen in that role again. He had such a positive influence on me and I am forever grateful.
