Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage shown by so many on that day.

For many New Yorkers and New Jerseyans, 9/11 also became a turning point that eventually led them to a new chapter in the Pocono Mountains. Their stories became part of the fabric of our communities.

Today we remember where we came from, those we lost, and the resilience that carried so many forward.

The fog is still resting in the valley this morning.

The ridgeline holds its silence the way it always has. Patient. Steady. Unchanged by the years.

Somewhere out there, mountains like these were the last thing some of them ever saw of home. And somewhere out there, they're the first thing many of us still get to wake up to.

Today we remember them.
We honor them.
We're grateful.

For the morning. For the quiet. For the freedom to stand here and watch the fog lift over the Pocono Mountains one more time.

Some moms have been quietly picturing something like this —
a porch wrapped in hydrangeas,
golden hour pouring through the trees,
the mountains sitting soft in the distance
like they've always been there waiting.
