🇱🇧 Happy Feast of St. Charbel! This 19th c. Maronite monk lived a quiet life as a hermit outside of Beirut, and was exemplary in his obedience, work ethic, tender care of the sick, and reverence in celebrating the Divine Liturgy. Charbel practiced strict mortifications to detach himself from the world and remain alert to the presence of God. After his death, miraculous healings and signs drew attention to his life and holiness. St. Charbel, patron of Lebanon, pray for us!

🇸🇪 Happy Feast day of St. Bridget of Sweden! After the death of her husband, this 14th c. saint followed God’s call to found the religious order of the Bridgettines, who dedicate the fruits of their prayer and apostolic work to the unity of all Christians. Today we recall Pope Benedict’s praise of St. Bridget’s labors and echo his plea for her intercession, “St. Bridget traveled from Sweden to Italy, lived in Rome, and also went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land. With her witness she speaks of openness to different peoples and civilizations. Let us ask her to help humanity today to create large spaces for peace. May she obtain from the Lord in particular peace in the Holy Land, for which she felt such deep affection and veneration.” St. Bridget, patroness of Europe, pray for peace in the world!
