JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles hosted Shochu Rising 2025, an exclusive event presented by the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association (JSS), supported by JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles and Co-hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles.
The celebration honored and showcased Honkaku Shochu—Japan’s authentic distilled spirit renowned for its craftsmanship, diversity, and cultural heritage.
Distinguished guests, including Consul General of Japan Kosei Murota, Jose Pinedo, Publisher of Tequila & Spirits Magazine, and leading industry professionals gathered to experience an immersive program featuring:
• Shochu Tasting – Highlighting 12 renowned distilleries from across Japan
• Lecture on Honkaku Shochu – Presented by William Weston, Certified Shochu Advisor and F&B Professional
• Shochu Cocktail Presentation – Led by Tom G. Liu, Head Bartender at Thunderbolt Los Angeles
• Food Pairings – Created by the Michelin-starred restaurant UKA, offering eight exclusive bites thoughtfully crafted to complement Shochu.
• Special Guests — The Consul General of Japan Kosei Murota and the Director of JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles.
