“There are only four kinds of people in the world: those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers.” – Roselyn Carter 💬

Caregiving touches nearly every life, but it often goes unspoken and unsupported. That’s why WETA and PBS, in partnership with Well Beings, are premiering a powerful new documentary: "Caregiving." 🎥

Produced by Bradley Cooper’s Lea Pictures with Ark Media, this two-hour film tells the real stories of caregivers across the U.S. - their sacrifices, their resilience, and the systems that too often fail to support them. It’s a personal and national reckoning with a care crisis that’s growing by the day.

On May 19, Stroll Cleveland Park , Stroll Spring Valley , and Iona Senior Services .senior hosted a special advance screening at Katzen Arts Center. 🎬 The screening was followed by an expert panel discussion focused on aging and caregiving challenges in DC, featuring powerful community insights and an inspiring Q&A session. 💬

Iona also shared programs that offer critical local support:
📍 Adult Day Health Center in Tenleytown
📅 Weekly events through Around Town DC

📞 Helpline: 202-895-9448 | [email protected]
🧭 Aging and Caregiving Support Program – personalized, concierge-style support for aging in place, dementia care, family coaching, and end-of-life transitions.

This event was more than a screening. It was the start of a much-needed conversation on equity, care, and connection. 🧡

📺 “Caregiving” premieres nationally on PBS this June.

In an industry that often focuses on aesthetics and curb appeal, Sanam Vivansia stands out for something deeper: authenticity. As a Realtor with Century 21 New Millennium and founder of Vivansia Homes, LLC, she brings a truly global perspective and a lifetime of experience to her clients by offering unmatched service with heart and hustle.

Born Persian and raised in Uppsala, Sweden, Sanam calls Sweden her hometown. She speaks Swedish, Farsi, and conversational Spanish and French, just one of the many ways her multicultural background informs the way she serves clients across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. 🌍

Her journey began in law, earning her first Master of Laws from Uppsala University, then her second from George Washington University after moving to the U.S. in 2009. Though successful in law and title, Sanam craved more connection and found it in real estate. “It was like, this is the most perfect world for me. I get to be out there, give great customer service to people and get to work with people, which I love,” she says. 💼💬

Licensed since 2022, Sanam entered the market during a time of high interest rates, no easy feat. But she’s never been one to shy away from a challenge. She specializes in TRID, RESPA, title insurance, strategic planning, and more. Her mission? To grow constantly and nurture strong client relationships. 🏡💡

Outside of real estate, Sanam is just as passionate. She travels often to see her family in Europe, adores her 6-year-old pup, and practices yoga religiously, earning her certification as a yogi last year. 🧘‍♀️✈️🐶

“I could do real estate 24/7 and not get tired of it,” she says. And when you meet her, you’ll believe it. Because no matter what she’s doing, Sanam brings her authentic self, and that’s what truly sets her apart.

🇺🇸 Did You Know? This Fourth of July, you can celebrate America's story just steps from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Cleveland Park Resident, Eileen B. Langholtz, writes in her "Museum Musings" article:

🎆 The People’s House: A White House Experience is a brand-new museum opened in 2024 by the White House Historical Association, a nonprofit founded by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961. Her mission? To preserve, protect, and open the doors of the White House’s history to all Americans.

📍Located just one block from the White House at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, the museum tells the story of The People’s House, from presidents and first families to the incredible staff who keep it running.

✨ Highlights include:
🏛️ A large-scale video installation sharing the White House’s architectural story
🪑 A full-scale replica of the Oval Office—yes, you can sit behind the Resolute Desk!
🎥 An immersive 360° theater experience of the State Floor’s most iconic rooms
🗣️ The People’s Voices Gallery featuring digital portraits and reflections from longtime White House staff
🎉 Interactive exhibits where you can “attend” a State Dinner, sit in on a Cabinet meeting, and witness moments from the White House’s everyday life
🎯 And the Stories in Objects gallery, where everyday items unlock extraordinary tales from presidential history

Whether you’re a history buff, a curious visitor, or just proud to be an American, this experience brings new meaning to We the People.

🪣✨ Mosquito-themed mocktails? Your favorite beverage in a shared bucket? Not quite… but definitely buckets of fun, and a brilliant step toward mosquito-free summer nights! 🦟🚫

Cleveland Park Resident Shari Wilson writes:

Our Cleveland Park block came together (adults and kids!) for a DIY Mosquito Bucket Party inspired by research from the University of Delaware and University of Maryland. The goal? To fight mosquitos before they hatch while having a blast doing it.

Here’s the short story:
🧬 Entomologists found that the best way to reduce backyard mosquitos is by preventing larvae from hatching. A single water bottle cap of standing water can become a nursery for hundreds of mosquitos — and eggs hatch in just 2 days!

🛑 Step 1: Eliminate Standing Water
Every 3 days, check for puddles in gutters, pots without drainage, plastic debris, birdbaths, and more.

🪣 Step 2: Make a Mosquito Bucket!
You’ll need:
✔️ A 5-gal bucket (no toxic residues)
✔️ A handful of dead leaves, hay, or straw
✔️ ¼ of a mosquito dunk (monthly through Nov)
✔️ Chicken wire or mesh for a lid

How to:
Fill the bucket with water + natural debris. Add dunk. Cover loosely with mesh. Place somewhere low-traffic. Refresh water as needed. Add ¼ dunk monthly. Wash hands after handling dunk.

💡 Why it works: Fermenting debris lures female mosquitos to lay eggs… but the natural bacteria in the dunk prevent them from hatching. It’s safe, simple, and science-backed.

And did we mention the kids stole the show with creative bucket painting? 🎨🧒🏽👧🏻

Want to learn more? Search “Dr. Doug Tallamy mosquito control” on YouTube for the 2-minute explainer. Spoiler: it's fascinating.

So… is a mosquito bucket party in your future? Be the first on your block, and make your next outdoor get-together blissfully bug-free.

☀️Your daily dose of sunshine might just be the best medicine you're not taking! ☀️

Cleveland Park resident Lucinda LaRee (.laree) writes:

The CirqularX Medicine Wheel is turning as we approach the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year, a powerful moment in nature’s rhythm. 🌿 The element of spring is fire, and with it comes light, vitality, and the life-giving energy of the sun.

It’s easy to take sunlight for granted. We rely on it to rise and set like clockwork. But our bodies don’t make Vitamin D on their own—it’s sunlight that activates this essential nutrient, which helps us absorb calcium, build strong bones, support our immune system, and improve muscle, brain, and cellular function. 🦴🧠💪

Our skin works like a solar panel, naturally converting UV rays into Vitamin D. Just 20–30 minutes of sun exposure a few times a week can make a difference—especially during midday hours when the sun is highest. ☀️ Remember, balance is key: too much sun can cause damage, and altitude increases intensity, so adjust accordingly. ⛰️

Sunlight doesn’t just support the body—it lifts the spirit. Exposure to sunlight helps regulate our sleep cycle, reduce stress, improve mood, and balance hormones like estrogen and testosterone. It even energizes T-cells, our immune system’s warriors. ✨

While supplementation is an option (D3 + K is ideal for absorption), the most natural way to receive Vitamin D is from the source: the sun. Food sources like salmon, sardines, tuna, and fortified items can help, but don’t overdo it—fat-soluble vitamins can build up. Consult a professional before supplementing.

🧘‍♀️ 92% of Americans spend most of their time indoors. This season, let’s commit to change. Spring and summer are prime time to store up this vital nutrient and reconnect with nature.

🌞 Prioritize your well-being, harness the power of the sun, and as REI says:
for better health.

🌿 A Legacy Estate Hidden in the Heart of Washington, D.C.

Tucked away on 3+ private acres bordering Rock Creek Park, this circa 1913 stone manor is a rare masterpiece of Classical Revival architecture by famed architect Waddy Butler Wood. Offered for the first time in 30 years, the estate includes a stately main residence, guest cottage, 50’ pool, tennis court, and lush gardens—an unmatched retreat just 3 miles from the White House.

At nearly 10,000 sq ft, the main home balances grandeur with livability:
✨ Soaring 10-ft ceilings
🔥 Formal living & dining rooms with fireplaces
🍽️ Chef’s kitchen & sunlit family room
📚 Library + private office
🛏️ Lavish primary suite w/ terrace
🎥 Top-floor rec room + 2 guest suites
💪 Gym, laundry, and full basement

Outdoors, enjoy your own private park: rolling lawns, vegetable & cutting gardens, a stone loggia, and space for gatherings or peaceful escapes. A charming guest cottage provides extra privacy for visitors.

Constructed from stone reclaimed from Linnean Hill—the estate of horticulturist Joshua Pierce, who helped shape Rock Creek Park—this home is literally built from history. 🏛️

📍 Quietly nestled at the end of a private road, it offers the perfect blend of privacy, scale, and proximity to D.C.’s power and culture. A true once-in-a-generation offering.

19/06/2025

🐶 Ten-year-old Gidget, a delightful Maltese/Lhasa Apso mix, is not just a pet—she’s a full-fledged adventurer with a human soul and a heart for travel. Belonging to Allana Schwaab, Gidget came into her life in the most old-school way: through a newspaper ad. A family had a surprise litter and listed the puppies in the classifieds. One look at Gidget, and Allana knew she’d found her match.

🏄‍♀️ Named after the spunky surfer girl from Gidget Goes Hawaiian—specifically Deborah Walley’s version—this pup lives up to her namesake with a love for exploring new places and a spark of curiosity that never fades. “She’s so adventurous,” Allana says.

🌺 But Gidget isn’t just about tropical vibes and plane rides. This little lady is wise beyond her dog years. “She’s a human in a dog’s body,” Allana laughs. “She looks you right in the eyes when you talk to her. Even her vet says it feels like she’s actually listening.” And it’s not just talk—Gidget negotiates. Medications are only accepted with proper bribery—usually a trip to Petco or a playdate with one of her many furry friends.

✈️ And speaking of trips, Gidget lights up at the mention of airports. She’s been flying back and forth to the West Coast since she was six months old and has proven herself a seasoned, stress-free traveler. “She’s incredibly adaptable,” Allana shares.

👸 Life at home is tailored to Gidget’s queenly status. She has not one, not two, but three dog beds—strategically placed for comfort at all times. Her favorite treat? Zucchini. Yes, there’s always a stash in the fridge just for her. And as for her social calendar? It’s packed. “Her social life is busier than mine,” Allana jokes.

✨ Gidget is proof that great things come in small, fluffy packages. She’s smart, spirited, and ready for whatever adventure comes next—with her best friend, Allana, always by her side.
