For those who’ve followed Gabriel Garzón-Montano since his 2014 debut Bishouné: Alma Del Huila, the critically-lauded, self-produced EP that put him on the map, and served as sample fodder for a handful of popular music’s most iconic artists, it is known he is poised for greatness. His follow-up LP, 2017’s Jardin, melded classical and folkloric instruments with r&b, hip-hop, and cumbia, proving once again that Gabriel is comfortable making transformative, funky, cathartic records all by himself. Now, the artist is present, and he is in final form. Garzón-Montano’s ability to execute a wide range of musical styles is his secret weapon – and so it is no wonder he bristles at the prospect of settling into any one genre. “Genre has never been a consideration,” he says. “The idea of genre uses fear of failure as a baseline. Genre puts the music in a box.” After debuting three new tracks with an iconic COLORS performance, we see this more than ever- Whether it's being the debonair leading man, the wistful impressionist, and the Latino Urbano hitmaker. In this life, a first-generation American, born in Brooklyn to French and Colombian parents, can weave tapestries of sound that defies genre. Where big brujo energy means blunts and 3 inch heels; it means Appolonia’s hands around you from the back of that motorcycle; it means nueva cancion, and reggaeton; it means the rabid, joyful individualism of funk – of oneness – of the one. (Yeah, in this life - you’re on your own.) (*Taken from Spotify)

Few things ever grow tall without roots. For the five members of Through The Roots, it took a decade of inspired songwriting and heavy touring to develop the band’s unique sound: a modern blend of roots reggae, hip-hop, rock, and electronic pop. It’s a sound that nods to the band’s diverse influences while also reaching far beyond them, and it began humbly enough, with the guys hosting their own backyard shows in college towns across southern California. Word spread. Crowds grew. Through The Roots bought a renovated school bus and hit the road hard, graduating from college frat parties to larger clubs, building their audience show by energetic show. Proudly based in San Diego, they also found mentors in Cali-based reggae bands like the Grammy-nominated Rebelution, who began inviting Through The Roots on a series of nationwide tours. Again, word spread and crowds grew. Throughout it all, the band kept writing and exploring new sounds, working their way towards a truly unique sound that blended tradition with technology. In 2019, the band teamed up with LAW Records to release their second full length album “Arrival” which was followed up by a number of nationwide tours to support the new release. In July 2020, Through The Roots joined Ineffable Records, aiming to put forward their best work yet with their new genre bending single “At Peace” featuring Lutan Fyah. (*Taken from Spotify)

Hear Kim Waters on (click link in bio.)

Maryland-born saxophonist Kim Waters is a gifted performer known for his romantic, crossover jazz style. Influenced by both bluesy jazz and soulful R&B, Waters debuted in 1989 with Sweet and Saxy. His next several albums, 1991's Sax Appeal, 1993's Peaceful Journey, and 1994's It's Time for Love, found him moving in more of a smooth jazz direction. It was a creative transformation that culminated in 1998's Love's Melody and 1999's One Special Moment.
In 2001, Waters delivered From the Heart, his first of several albums on Shanachie Records that included 2002's Someone to Love You, 2004's In the Name of Love, 2007's You Are My Lady, and his 2008 homage to Marvin Gaye, I Want You: Love in the Spirit of Marvin. In 2011, Waters closed out his time with Shanachie with This Heart of Mine, featuring covers of R. Kelly's "Love Letter" and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind."

In 2013, Waters moved to Red River Entertainment for My Loves, which included guest appearances from vocalists Glenn Jones and Waters' wife Dana Pope. Pope was also featured on Waters' next effort, Silver Soul, which also included vocals from singer/actress Zendaya and vocalist Eric Roberson. The holiday-themed My Gift to You followed in 2015. In 2016, Waters made his return to Shanachie with Rhythm and Romance; the set peaked at number 12 on the Jazz Albums chart. In the summer of 2018, he undertook a tour of amphitheaters, festivals, and outdoor shed stages across the United States, previewing material from his next date, What I Like, released that September. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi (*Taken from Spotify)

Hear Braxton Brothers on (click link in bio.)

The San Francisco-based smooth jazz duo of twin brothers Nelson (bass) and Wayne Braxton (saxophone) first took shape when both siblings joined the school band during the fourth grade. By high school, each was a perennial member of the California All-State Honor Band; while Wayne went on to Cal State Northridge, performing as a member of the school's celebrated Jazz A Band, Nelson instead studied tuba at San Francisco State University, later touring Europe as part of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. The brothers were later reunited at SFSU, collaborating there in a jazz quartet; they were also both honored as selections to the Disney All-American collegiate band. Upon turning professional, Nelson toured with Najee, while Wayne worked with Sheila E.; as the Braxton Brothers, they debuted in 1996 with Steppin' Out, which was originally released on the tiny Kokopelli label but later licensed for reissue by Windham Hill, where it generated the NAC smash "When Love Comes Around." Now and Forever followed in 1999. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi (*Taken from Spotify)
