Big Change for NH Drivers 🚗 🛻

Starting Jan. 31, 2026, New Hampshire will eliminate annual vehicle safety inspections for passenger vehicles.

Supporters praise the change, saying yearly inspections are costly and ineffective. Critics warn it could make roads less safe, especially during harsh winters. ⛄️

The change was part of the new state budget signed by Gov. Kelly Ayotte after months of debate. Emissions testing will also end by fall 2026, pending federal approval. Until then, inspections remain mandatory through early 2026. 🧑‍🔧

Preserving The Endangered Piping Plover This July 4th 🐣 🌊

This past spring, fireworks were cancelled at Hampton Beach to protect the endangered piping plover, a tiny shorebird that nests right on the sand.

Fireworks can scare adult plovers from their nests, leaving chicks exposed and vulnerable. Even small disturbances can be deadly.

⚠️ Piping plovers are endangered in NH and federally threatened. Their only nesting grounds in the state are at Hampton and Seabrook beaches, and now is peak nesting season.

NH Historical Society Currently Displaying Rare McLane Collection 🖼 🎨

The New Hampshire Historical Society is sharing their latest exhibition, A Legacy of Landscapes: Selections from the Linda and P. Andrews McLane Collection.

It features 61 rarely seen paintings by some of the most renowned 19th-century American landscape artists. This exhibition marks the public debut of one of the most significant private collections of White Mountain art, now generously gifted to the Society by the McLanes. ⛰️

All images belong to the New Hampshire Historical Society. All paintings are a part of Linda and P. Andrews McLane Collection, and all gallery shots belong to the New Hampshire Historical Society.
