Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection [210.12], based on the 2023 NEC.

Did you know fire stations now need AFCI protection in their sleeping areas?

NEC section 210.12 expands the AFCI requirements for 120V, 15A and 20A branch circuit located in sleeping quarters of fire, police, ambulance, and ranger stations. The common theme for expanding AFCI protection is always related to sleeping areas.

Becoming a Great Instructor - 20 of 20

In this series we've shown subject-matter experts how to share their expertise with others and explained the skills and attitudes necessary for a teacher to be effective in helping students understand and learn. The information presented was divided into six major areas, each of which included several major points.

This video clip summarizes those key areas. Follow along with the text which also reviews important presentation tips and techniques that were covered in the course. These are the basic skills. From this point on, it's like anything else in life - practice makes perfect. Good luck and remember that the work you are doing is changing lives. The job of a great instructor is to make a difference in the lives of their students.

Make a Plan
• Know your exam date and work backwards to create a schedule that fits your needs. One of the biggest reasons people fail is not giving themselves enough structured study time.
• Add your study sessions to your calendar—ideally at the same time each week.
• Study when you’re most productive—whether that’s in the morning or after the day’s stress is behind you.
• If you start to drift, take a 5–10 minute break and restart to stay productive.
• Don’t forget to schedule time for rest, meals, and family. When your loved ones know what to expect, it’s easier for them to support you.
• Stick to a weekly routine and pace yourself to avoid last-minute cramming.

At the service disconnect (main means of cutoff - disconnect utility power from premises power [Article 100], the NEC:
Requires a grounding electrode conductor to terminate at the meter or service disconnect, 250.24(A.
Requires a main bonding jumper (N/G bond) from the service neutral to the service disconnect, 250.24(C).
Prohibits a N/G bond after the service disconnect 250.24(B).
As for me and my house, I will serve the Lord [Joshua 24:15].
