Winners from the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft
Arizona Cardinals
Landing a generational talent in Marvin Harrison Jr could be the move that puts the Cardinals back in the conversation in the NFC West. With Kyler Murray starting the year healthy, a true #1, and James Conner looking to replicate his 5.0 YPC from 2023, this offense should be firing on all cylinders. Add in Missouri's versatile Darius Robinson at 27, and the Cardinals improved on both sides of the ball in a span of a couple of hours.
Atlanta Falcons
Hear me out. Yes, Kirk Cousins just signed a HUGE contract. Yes, Kirk Cousins is the starter. HOWEVER, Kirk Cousins is 35 years old. The Green Bay Packers have changed the way teams are going to draft their QB of the future, and the Falcons took notice. Landing Michael Penix Jr is a home run for the franchise moving forward. Two guaranteed years of learning alongside one of the best QBs in the league is going to help Penix a great deal. He should be ready just like Jordan Love when his time comes. GM Terry Fontenot clearly has faith in his roster and the rest of this draft class. It will be interesting to see how he addresses some actual needs on days 2 and 3, but security for the long term is equally important.
Philadelphia Eagles
Nabbing Quinyon Mitchell at 22 is a steal. Many will point to Mitchell playing in the MAC as some sort of flaw or weakness, but through 402 snaps last season, Mitchell allowed ZERO touchdowns. That's the kind of shutdown corner the Eagles desperately needed coming into the night.
