Questions open us to mystery; answers often try to close it. In asking, we make space for God to move — for wisdom, healing, and revelation to unfold in their own time. Faith itself begins not in certainty but in curiosity: Who do you say that I am? Jesus, too, led with questions, not pronouncements.

I have been repeating and silently directing this phrase by author and Buddhist meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg these past two weeks toward strangers and people (politicians) I'm so ANGRY at: "May you be safe, happy and healthy."
I need a way to crank up the love inside me and for humanity. Not to bypass the legit pain and suffering in the world, but to avoid vibing it so I can be of service. It works.

I could have explained to my daughter about the truth of her mother and father being equally responsible for household duties and raising three daughters. I went another way.

I kept blinking because the world had taken on that underwater look it gets when you’re so, so tired. Having rushed out of town to help a relative in the ER with the flu, I had gotten little sleep.…

I found her rocking her small body in the bathtub. Crying. “I’m under so much stress,” she said. She was. My daughter was the lead in the school play that wasn’t coming together. She sa…

"We never stop having to say we’re sorry, seeking forgiveness or forgiving ourselves. Because the truth is, no matter our age, we’re going to say and do dumb/mean/idiot/careless things forever."

We were running late and I dumped my daughter’s half-drunk drink down the sink. I didn’t realize she intended to take it with her. “Where. Is. It!” she raged. I pointed to the sink. & #8…

I was upset with the very sneaky questions the doctor kept lobbing my daughter's way. But I was surprised and super proud with the way my daughter spoke up and demanded the doctor stop the BS.

Ava turned 11 and the school said she needed two shots. Before that she was weighed and measured. The doctor came in and showed me her growth chart. She’s right on track, the red height line tickin…
