I'm pitching in with the cleaning today because Beth, one of our waitresses, is pregnant and felt faint. We're a tight team—when one of us needs a hand, we all step in.

Suddenly, I hear this familiar laugh that just takes me back to high school. I look up, and there she is—Heather, the high school queen bee, with her posse. These were the girls who made my life miserable back then, mocked everything about me. And now? She's smirking, heading straight for me.

I was absolutely furious. I pulled up to the house I've lived in my ENTIRE life and saw all my things just sitting outside, while my daughter-in-law was casually sipping coffee in the yard with a smug smile on her face!

Turns out, a few hours before, she found out that my dad, who owned the house (he recently passed away in a nursing home), had supposedly left the house to HER in his will! Then, to top it off, 20 minutes later, my son arrived, and this girl had the nerve to say she wants a DIVORCE! Can you believe it?!

A RESCUE DOG CAME HOME WITH US — THE NEXT NIGHT, MY 8-YEAR-OLD SON DISAPPEARED

Last weekend, my son and I went to look at dogs. He'd been asking for one for months, and my wife finally agreed on the condition it was small and "presentable," like a poodle or a Yorkie.

At the shelter, though, he ignored every small, fluffy dog. Instead, he spotted this scrappy-looking mutt: big eyes, shaggy fur, patches of tan and black, and a crooked tail. He looked at me with a grin and said, "She needs us, Dad." I knew I couldn't say no.

We brought her home, and he named her Daisy. He spent hours settling her in, brushing her fur, and giving her treats. My wife wasn't thrilled, but I figured she'd warm up to Daisy with time.

That night, I tucked our son in, said goodnight, and went to bed. Around 3 a.m., I woke up to an eerie silence. Something felt wrong. I went to his room—empty. His bed was a mess, window slightly open. My heart pounded as I called his name and searched the house, but he was gone.

I was crazy in love with my husband and married him despite my dad's objections, losing my inheritance in the process.

Fast forward 30 years, and it felt like I was living with a stranger. He had turned cold, came home late, always smelled like lilies, and our joint account was mysteriously running dry.
